Chapter 3: Angehlah and the First People
Not caught up yet? Check out Chapter 2: The Creation Gods , here on Vocal! Listen along here! A phrase and story as old as the Sentience of The First People- life is yours for the taking - still echoes in the minds of the people of Rhyonis. Were it not for those few simple words, there would be no written history, no memory, nor would there be anything of The First People at all. Every humanoid lineage knows the story; the tale being an innate part of their consciousness from the moment of their first thought. This being, of course, Angehlah's sacrifice and Gift of Sentience.

Effie & Simon
"Hold still, horsey," she said in that little voice, "Mine going to get on, okay?" Lorelai patted my cheek, and I snorted. Then, gripping handfuls of my t-shirt, she climbed up onto my back and jigged up and down. I moved obediently forward, early morning dew soaking my hands and knees. Her glittering pink wellies swayed harmlessly either side of my ribs, and her giggles poured like sunshine. "Go, Uncle Horsey, go! Faster!"

Persephone’s Purple . Content Warning.
“Cousin, you seem to be missing your husband!” Aphrodite giggled and gestured at the purple pansies popping up in my wake. “Perhaps a private meeting with Dionysus or a stroll through your garden with Pan would. . . help you focus.”

Bite the Hand 🐺
After supper, I scraped the still-warm entrails into a metal bowl, and took it out to feed the werewolf. It'd been over forty degrees again today. The temperature had hardly dropped since the sun went down. As a result the ground was bone-dry and packed hard. He'd have tried to dig his way out anyway, no matter how much his paws bled and his claws broke and tore. That is, if not for the Collar.

The Librarian Who Guarded Forbidden Magic
The Library That Never Appeared on Any Map No traveler ever found the library by accident. It stood hidden beyond a winding stone path deep within an ancient forest, a place so old that even the oldest maps refused to acknowledge its existence. Those who searched for it with greed or ambition always lost their way, wandering in circles until the trees returned them to the ordinary world. Only those carrying unanswered questions found the path waiting for them. Amelia had spent her childhood hearing whispers about the forgotten library from her grandfather, who claimed it contained books that were never meant to be read by ordinary people. After his death, she discovered a weathered compass among his belongings. Instead of pointing north, its needle turned toward the forest. Three days later, after following it through thick woods and abandoned trails, Amelia stood before a towering stone building whose shelves were said to hold the most dangerous knowledge ever written.
