The Final Expedition - Episode 21
a microdose of fiction story
The Final Expedition - Compendium
Wild countryside flashed by Jacob’s sparse train cabin. His jacket button clanged ever so softly against a brass bar as he lay on the cushions.
One jacket and a fluttering countryside, that’s all he had left. Well that, and enough spare coin for one meal a day on the trip cross country. The warm eggs and sausage were a welcome reprieve. A most welcome reprieve.
His hand trembled as he lifted the coffee to his lips. The specter sat across the cabin, staring endlessly. Jacob opened his mouth, willing something, anything to come out.
Nothing came.
Their train rumbled on.
