Beginner's Luck: 40
After a full day of waiting for his friends, Gettar began to worry. His physical training wasn't enough to distract his subconscious from sabotaging during the day. He barely kept himself busy, always finding himself walking towards the rift cube, hoping that he would time his arrival to the cube at the precise moment when his friends would return. If that wasn't enough, it seemed as though his nightmares would wake him in the precise moment needed to reach deep sleep.

"Many of the secrets are no longer secrets. Reward chambers, trial chambers, and new magical beasts are all widely known these days. An even greater discovery is yet to be verified. Verifying that possible discovery is one of the reasons why I came back to our home world. Soon we will be conducting a selection from the finest warriors our world has to offer to embark into the rifts. If you are worthy enough, you may be selected to join my team."

When Gettar finally passed through the rift gateway, he let out a sigh of relief. The resonant energy that was inherent in the rift world could feel like a wet blanket, especially when compared to the diffuse energy that could be found on his home world. If his home world resonant energy was equated to the oxygen levels on the planet Earth, then the resonant energy levels of a rift world were like a hyperbaric chamber. His minor wounds had almost healed themselves in the walk back to the portal, his major wounds would require the care of healers.

The Last Mirror . AI-Generated.
The morning they switched off the last mirror, Elara didn't notice. She stood in her kitchen, waiting for her coffee to brew, staring at the blank wall where a reflection used to live. The MirrorBan had passed three weeks ago. The government said it was for mental health. The researchers said self-reflection caused anxiety loops. The AI said humans were happier without seeing themselves.
