REGRESSED
CHAPTER 1 There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Or, as Melody Falcon knew only too well, there weren’t only dragons in the Valley. Presently, she didn’t care one little bit. Right now her life depended on avoiding a silent army of predators known as Nam-Chompians (Chompers for short) who had been sent to derail her, devour her, or at the very least turn her into a smoldering, whimpering pile of human flesh; but that wasn’t going to happen. Not today. Not if Melody had anything to say about it.

Spirit's Rising
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. The Valley of Drin’Divol once held great promise, on the rise to be the most powerful of the Terrelier nations. Its people thrived under the hand of Lord Rholin Gunvald. The warlord left a trail of fearful whispers in his wake, equated to the striking power of lightning and the thunder’s ferocity. Despite this, he charmed ally and enemy alike with a smooth elegance akin to gentle rains.

Black Wings Trilogy
There weren't always dragons in the valley. Yet, the towering drakes perched along the cliffs, still as great stone statues made the landscape feel like an ancient draconian cathedral. As dawn painted the sides of the valley orange, smaller dragons emerged from caves and crevices. The blue sky pushed away the gray of dusk and revealed the plume of smoke billowing from the far end of the glen. They congregated at the edge of the creek, taking turns to drink. Two of the drakes spread their great wings and dove off the cliff, gliding to the gathering clan below. The dragons stepped aside to make a path for the great beasts. The largest drake raised his head and let loose with a thundering roar that seemed to split the sky.

Four if we Die
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. There had always been sheep, though fewer since the dragons arrived. At least that was Rat’s recollection. Even in his maybe, eleven years of life he was sure there used to be a great deal more sheep in Grimwaters Valley. Many of his earliest memories were of sheep. Counting sheep, patting sheep, watching his father push herds of the daft things from one field to the next.

Metal, Fire, and Magic
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Once there was nothing, not even a valley to speak of. And then suddenly there was the forest, green and glowing with life. Next came the village, a gathering of miners working in the mountains and hunters claiming the bounty of the forest. Last of all came the towering city of Acae, which stretched its metal grip all the way up the sides of the mountain slopes, reaching ever nearer to the sun.

The Sleeping Warrior
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. For a long time, the sloping hills were crested with purple, as heather grew in abundance, and the river gushed through, carving out the mountains. There were even other creatures some rumoured, peaceful ones, who lived in harmony on the hills. The sun rose and fell upon the Valley and the land was quiet.

The Scale of Night
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Believe me when I say, it used to be your typical, run-of-the-mill valley,” mused the Dwarf gruffly into his rapidly emptying mug. “Bees, trees, and rolling hills. A perfectly boring stretch of green that usually ended in a godsforsaken rainbow." He scoffed. "And you know what we did?" He directed his rant at the pallid young man sitting across from him. "We called them here. Lured them even. Turned a beautifully boring place into a nesting ground for ancient monsters. Can you believe that, boy?” Through the tavern window smoke and steam were visible rising from the Valley of the Nests on the distant horizon. “Can you even imagine the stones on my kin?"

The Forgotten Order
Prologue: There weren't always dragons in the Valley... Tallus thought as he headed to the precipice of the cliffs that overlooked the valley and beyond. This was a normal place for him to go to contemplate such thoughts. This day was different though. There had been rumors from the huntsman in the valley. Very unsettling rumors. The huntsmen were saying that the woods east of the valley were empty, devoid of all life.
