A Haunting Dragonsong
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Then one day, there were. The end,” I answered, rolling my eyes. Unfortunately, this did not seem to be the answer the three patrons of my shabby tavern were looking for - they responded to this perfectly accurate and succinct reply by levelling two steel spears at my throat. I glared contemptuously across the wooden bartop at them. Princess Eira Valley and her two identical guards, all stony-faced statues with nary a shred of good humour or respect for other people’s time between them, stared impassively back.

Beyond the Veil
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. It was once a peaceful place. But then they came. They came from the hills, and from over the sea, and from the craggy sides of the grey mountain. And when they came, the men came too, all determined to bag themselves a dragon. For a dragon skull was the ultimate trophy, and many men, great hunters and great fools alike, came to the valley to make a name for themselves.

The Ballad of Ibilin
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. For as long as Isak had lived, nothing of great import ever happened here, at least not until they arrived. Most people in Turanda Valley had only ever heard legends and folktales of them. Until recently, some didn’t even believe they were real. Isak remembered the look of utter disbelief when they had flown over the town of Rugil for the first time. The panic they had instilled as they soared overhead had been enough to send the whole town running for the hills. That was almost a year ago now.

Find Me
“There weren’t always dragons in the valley.” Garret adjusted the parchment in his hands and reined his sleep-plagued breathing into submission. The professor’s lectures were interesting, but the ridiculous nature of a packed and warm theatre made for great conditions to fall asleep in. “Archeological findings date the oldest dragon bones to the early fourth century. It is presumed that they migrated there, something like how birds migrate south every winter.” The professor’s tone was beginning to sour. “Upon finding the valley to be filled with wildlife and hospitable for sustaining their colonies, it is presumed they simply just stayed there. But take it from me--“

A Band of Brothers
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. About seven years ago, they started emerging out of their caves and descending from their mountain peaks. At first they didn’t stray far from their homestead, keeping to the mountains or forests around them. That did not last long though. Only the stories of the dragons’ destruction spread faster than their fires and lightning storms. Civilization was all but driven underground. The dwarves and other subterranean races didn’t exactly welcome their new neighbors and tensions mounted, but subsided by the collective terror of the dragons. Soon enough, people of all kinds banded together forming parties to set out to slay as many dragons as they could. One such group called themselves the Band of Brothers and this is their story.
