Cloaked in Dragonflies
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Explaining to my daughter what life was like before the era of flying fire-reptiles was a nightly ritual of questions; answers, were in litanies and melodies, sometimes until the glow of daybreak.

Visions of Alara
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The valley Imortu is in the center of the the Planet Alara in the Quadronian Galaxy 500 billion light years away from Earth. Before I begin this story let me take you beyond the galaxy, beyond the stars. The planet Alara began an explosion of a Supernova and the dust that remained formed Alara.

Legends: The Peace Treaty
“There weren’t always dragons in the valley - of course not, for this isn’t a valley, it’s a desert,” Ciara grumbled under her breath as she fumbled with the ropes and pegs of her small dragonhide tent. Although the night sky above was still a pleasant pink, the hills surrounding the small oasis cast long shadows, draining the faint light from being. The young girl struggled and swore under her breath, huffing as loose strands of strawberry blonde fell into her eyes. She wondered what exactly had possessed her to fly until the night was practically upon her and the faint roars of the Northern dragons resonated in the air. She should have stopped earlier, set up camp early enough to see what she was doing or at least far enough that a small fire would not become a giveaway of her location. To make matters worse, it meant that her dragon, Hudz, would not be able to hunt.

Creatures of Fire
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley, so the legends went. Historians and charlatans alike spun tales of red skies blackened by billowing clouds of smoke, of endless rivers of fire bubbling up from beneath the earth, and of a burning mountain that spat the creatures onto an unsuspecting world, destroying itself in the process. The truth mattered little, though; for all practical purposes, Velota had always had dragons.

The Coming Fire
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. They came from the Arid Fjords from the north and swooped down on our town, bringing their arid lands with them. Now they have overtaken our land. Like the Kudzu plant chokes the life of a forest, so too have the dragons smothered the life out of our lands. Driving us from our homes and into new harsh lands. One’s in which warlords and empires fight over useful pieces of land and are unkind to those who are not like them.

The Call of Gold
There weren’t always dragons in The Valley. But then I came, ancient and craving treasure. So much wealth. How could I resist the lure of Los Angeles? The lights shone throughout the Valley like gold in the firelight, warming my heart and tickling my senses.
