The Dragon Corps
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Some say they'd come from up north, from above the Scottish Highlands. Others say that the Saxons brought them over to assist in their conquest of the isle. There were rumors that they flew upon them over the Sea, one hand gripping the reins and the other brandishing a double-sided axe. But that was likely a myth, inspired by the tremendous fear of the invaders; I’m pretty sure no one can tame dragons, let alone ride them like a steed.

When the Dragons Returned
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. At least, not for the last two millennia. However, when they returned, no one was surprised that they came to me first. You see, it’s what I was born for. To finally make peace with the dragons, to defend them from those who misunderstood their intentions. And most importantly, to work together to restore the earth to its original majesty.

Escaping District 1
Chapter 1 There weren't always dragons in the valley. In fact the first time she saw it there was no sign of animal life that she could remember. It was desolate and dark, but the second time ten years later there were plants, and small creatures she could not explain. They were large, and although some of them looked dangerous they were nothing like the dragons she would encounter if she escaped again. Some flew, some walked, but none of them blew out fire. Nothing she had ever seen there prepared her for her final escape.

An Unlikely Traitor
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. That's what my mother would always say. Sometimes it seemed like she was so frustrated over that fact. I thought it was awesome. They would always be around, much more frequently than cats, dogs, or even birds. However, the dragons tended to eat them so that probably explains that.

Caterpillars Turned...Dragons?
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. In fact, the dragon population came to be because of caterpillars. Yes, caterpillars. I bought some caterpillars off the internet as a cool science teaching moment for my children and we set them up in a nice little corner in our backyard. After a few days, I noticed smoke coming out of the set up, but the source unknown.

Ashes to Ashes
There weren’t always dragons in the valley. Alas, the mind of man makes its own monsters. Man is more beast than he gives himself credit. Man is good at stories, vicious in meaning, precautionary in moral, tales of shadows and the unseen. Men make walls of all kinds, in brick, stick and word, to barricade their kin, to shelter, ultimately in the shadows themselves. But a whisper of red, an ember, a comforting flame, and from it can burst forth their undoing.

Dar-Furgen
There weren't always Dragons in the Valley. For thousands of years, the Valley had lain dormant. Finally, it was teeming with life again. Flights of Dragons dotted the sky; their gold and silver gilded shadows glinted against the blue. Their thoughts and cries of joy washed over me. The wind blew my hair back and chilled my skin as I watched them high on the south ridge. I could see the forested valley half a mile deep and forever long. At the bottom of the valley, a sinuous slash of reflected sky and greenery stretched away in both directions. I smiled and rubbed my arms, then I thought of a better way to get warm. I took my Dragon’s form. The transformation was nearly instantaneous. Medium-sized as Dragons go at just thirty feet long, I stretched out my wings and took to the sky to join the others in celebration.

Dragon Charmer
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. In fact it was thought that dragons had gone extinct. That was until I met one. I had just gotten to college, a supernatural college. I myself am a witch, from the coven of Silver Lake. I was pleased that no one from my coven was coming here. I was excited to start the next chapter of my life. After I arrived at Valley University I dropped my boxes and bag in my dorm and headed to the campus bookstore for supplies for my classes.

The Journal of Delphine
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. What seems like a lifetime ago the Valley was filled with nothing but trees and open land outside our little backwoods town. The town of Autumn’s Keep was founded long ago for people who worked for the logging guild. When the guild went bankrupt some loggers stayed and made Autumn Keep what it is today. A small town almost in the middle of nowhere next to the Valley. The power station is a couple miles off and supplies the whole of the town with power. We keep up to date with the new radios that are popping up everywhere and my father and I enjoy our off days where we can enjoy the radio shows. The electronic hum that fills the streets at night is nice and soothing and we have guards with their rifles that make sure no animals come to bother our boring little town. Sometimes being in the middle of nowhere has its advantages. About 12 years ago to the day the Ember fell from the sky!
