Mythos
There weren't always dragons in the valley. At some point during his time as a ram herder, Gromdir, a stoutly member of a race of ancient stonebreakers we call Stromkin, would take his herd through the lush meadows in the valley between the Faeryn mountains to graze upon the plentiful Ambrose root that grew upon the backs of Boulderer Giants; A race of megalithic living stone creatures aslumber for as long as we've had eyes to see and ears to listen.

The Festival of Flowers
“There weren’t always Dragons in the Valley. You were too young to remember it, but no one told us when to eat.” Talo looked up at his kuya, his older brother, he had grown so much bigger these past few years. They both were sitting and still, Sinukuan was a full head and a half taller than him. As Sinu got older, he would play games with his little brother less and less, but this didn’t bother Talo too much. What bothered him was that he rarely ever saw his brother smile.

Infected
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley — not literal ones, anyway. Really, it serves them right. The hoarding had been going on for decades by the time the first actual fire streaked the sky. The Earth had been plenty scorched already. The Draconta are convinced this latest evolution is final proof that our Mother is indeed a conscious creature, Herself unleashing one final defense against the virus that humanity proved to be.

Altars of the Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Hadn’t been for longer than any of the villagers could remember. But the peddlers who traveled between villages in their jingling, barrel-shaped wagons selling their traded wares and bits of news old and new, they said the signs were everywhere for those who knew how to look. But most said there had been no sign of those horrendous creatures since the last great war so many generations ago that only the peddlers remembered any of the passed down tales. Tales of terrifying weapons of war that had burned alive entire armies, scorching the earth and leaving blacken fields where nothing grew to this day, the only sign they had ever existed, that and the dragon mounds.

Valley of Bones
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. None living, anyway. For millions of years, the bones of these gargantuan creatures stood, littering the Valley with their petrified, crystalline remains. Varying in size from that of a large tree, to some rivaling small mountains, there in the Valley they once gathered, as a great Calamity wiped out all known life on the planet.

Dragons and Destiny
There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. But things are typically at peace until makind gets involved, aren’t they? It had been around 9 years since the Great Retribution. Gramps told me the story many times, for I was too young when it happened to form memories of my own. Begrudgingly at first, for after the story ended, Grief would visit the house and linger for a while. But due to my petulance and the comforting hand of Time, he now tells the story so that we may always remember them and our purpose: to protect and rectify. Waiting for dinner to cool, he begins the tale that I have come to memorize: “A lost brother’s greed, a pointless betrayal, and swift retribution founded in magic is why you find us this way. The townspeople lost more than they could ever imagine and more would be lost if wrongs were not remedied.”

There Are No Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. And, there hadn’t been again for quite some time. Long before the Era of the Fire Lords, and long after the Frund Era that marked the exile of the humans, there where no dragons to speak of. No dragons at all.
