Draconis
"There weren't always dragons in the valley." "Really momma? How could that be?" Amelia asked. As far as she knew, dragons were always around. She looked at her hand in horror, recalling the warmth emanating from it's scales and imagining never feeling such a sensation.

There werenât always dragons in the valley. Nor clean stream in the lake. As long ago it may seem, ââtwas a time of true sadness. Glimpses of grey and weakened eyes met amongst the poverty fog. 1941, Lancashire - north of rural England. Father moved a lot for work and as follows so did I. But this town, this one little lost town held something profound. Something that didnât want to be found. Far greater than a pirates treasure and beyond the wealth of even the deepest pockets.

FURY
There werenât always dragons in the Valley. Furies hadnât always ruled the skies. But after Ages of peace, the humans had arrived in their golden starships with all their shining tools and glittering dreams. They built a city of silver and steel, ideas and optimism. They built machines to quarry magic from the ground and wonders from the water; they quickened gold from tin and jewels from blood. They awoke evil with a well-intentioned kiss. And then the Furies came. And they brought the dragons with them.

Ticking Dragons
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. In fact, they were the furthest thing from my mind before the Scorching. I had often heard of dragons from the extravagant stories the merchants always told. But I never took them seriously. They peddle their wares for a living, a good story is an easy way to draw a crowd. So I payed them no heed for the most part. I had better things to do.

Heavenly Fire
There werenât always dragons in the valley. Once, they ruled the skies. They used to soar through the clouds, majesty and all, leading their packs and newborns to and from their homes high in the mountains. Mating calls would wake us at dawn every winter, just as the sun was rising. I used to watch and just wait until the perfect moment when they would fly at the just the right angle so the light from the sun shone through the thin, rubbery skin of their wings, illuminating them in a soft orange glow. A heavenly fire. The first time I saw that was the first time in my life I knew there must be a God. And in that moment, I also knew fire must come from heaven, not hell.

The War of Colors
There weren't always dragons in the Valley, and certainly, there were not always dragons of the pocket-size variety..., Ezraha thought, as she waited for Shiloh. He would tell her more about the night of the massacre. She sighed with continued thought, Yes, the Massacre of Mum will now be a part of the Kaleidy weave, and oh, surely, a part of that Cruick Prop, titled The Victory in the Valley! She could see it- with so many assertions of right in that bold black print in that favored font (yes, she had once held and read and loved those books and papers that so shaped a Cruick's life).

Garau Antzu
There weren't always dragons in the valley. There was a time when our valley was the haven of peace, the refuge for hope, the shelter for faith, and the sanctuary of goodwill. The dragons didn't show up until Filbert and I decided to travel the world with our pet otter, Philip.

The Red Sun
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Our dearly beloved winged friends. Is this good or bad one might ask. It depends on who shares the tale. There was a long period of chilling fear and chaos in our world before the prophecy unfurled that brought to life our first dragons whose birth eclipsed the burning of the red sun.

Valley of the Accidentals
There werenât always dragons in the Valley. 300 years ago the Opius, the World organization regulating magic, planned to bring them back as powerful weapons to combat the Torrey. The Torrey were rising in power and threatening to reveal the true nature of magic to the ordinaries. The plan was to discreetly administer an elixir to a small fleet of Sky Warriors in the public eye, as to not stir trouble. They were directed to take a delaying capsule, then return to the camp in the woods for a monitored transformation. Morgan Lister, a highly decorated witch selected for this mission let her guard down leading to three ordinaries being exposed to magic becoming the first dragons since extinction, they are known as accidentals.
