Lost Daughter of Djadokhari
Ano “There weren't always dragons in the Valley. There was a time, when our noble city was free of the tyranny of the beasts, where our people flourished in freedom, instead of cowering in terror. But be strong, brave people of Bridgehead for justice shall be served…”

From the Ashes
FROM THE ASHES There weren’t always dragons in the valley. The bards teach that centuries ago (the number of centires varies depending on who you ask), men were the dominant species upon the Earth. Through advanced learning, mankind had conqured the planet and had no concerns beyond the trivial or the economic.

Secret forest
The Dark Lord's answer was blunt and defiant: "I am neither a man nor a ghost. I am a God, a God who looks down on all!" If before this, someone said to Lin Dongcheng that there is a god in the world, he is god, Lin Dongcheng would have laughed. But now, he believed the dark Lord's word. Just because of this, when Qin Tian found him, hoping that he would provide information about the Lord of Darkness, and said that he would bring the Lord of Darkness to justice, he would feel that the police exceeded his strength, how could the law of the earth restrain the god on high?

Smoke and Fire
“There weren’t always dragons in the Valley. Before that, in fact, the Valley hadn’t changed for generations. My grandmother would frequently remind me this whenever I tried to change some custom for our village. We farmed and we worshipped. We were safe, happy, alone. And then they came.” I said.

VARIANT OF THE VALE
THERE WEREN’T always dragons in the Valley. Before they came, it was the fairies who’d caused all the mayhem. Small things like blowing freshly washed laundry off clotheslines or ruffling up girls’ dresses with hardly any wind to speak of, might seem trivial compared to overturned wagons carrying much needed supplies to distant villages hard hit by viral epidemics, but they’re all the same when it comes to the mischief these fairies are known for. So that, after a while, given the fact bad things do happen, people began placing blame on them for practically everything imaginable.

The Last of The Dragoons
There weren't always dragons in the valley. At least that's what father said. It was a time before my time began. I've always known them. Though, that doesn't do much to still the fear that creeps in when I hear them from beyond the great wall.

The Wyrmtongue Chronicles
There weren't always dragons in the Valley. Ages ago, my ancestors flew there upon hot, volcanic winds. They found the island valley and rejoiced, for it offered refuge from their sinking, smoldering lands destined to doom. At first my kin were few; and then one day, many. But it angered the men of those kingdoms. The verdant Valley belonged to them – not us – although most of mankind dwelt coastally. The Valley lay sheltered and pristine at the island's heart, difficult to reach. My kin vowed to keep it. The humans vowed to reclaim it.

The Valley
There weren't always dragons in the valley. There were people, though. People who laughed with boundless enthusiasm, with sparkling eyes and joyful exuberance. Whose tears outnumbered the valley's dewdrops on a cool spring morning and whose love for each other shone brilliantly on kind faces. People who weren't afraid of their hearts, no matter how great the sentiment-be it excitement or despair. These were the people of the valley before the dragons. Earth herself mourns the loss of the people, for they brought her wonder and amusement; their merriment brought about her contented leisure. She understood their gratitude through the sound of their feet when they danced, knew their satisfaction after a drink of her crisp spring waters, and delighted in sending them countless sunrises and sunsets to admire. Her people created new life using her very breath, and each generation was more beautiful and abundant than the last. So it was and ever was intended to be. Until the dragons, that is.

The Mirror Guard (chapter 7)
Seven: Seven Days in the Stark EVA’S EYES SNAPPED OPEN! There was a wyrm tooth pressed into her throat. She felt the familiar grip of a sword in one of her hands — so she slashed. The snow wyrm screamed and opened its mouth. White light beamed inside. A slimy tongue moving towards her. She moved into a wobbly angerstance and quickly hacked at the tongue. When it was in two pieces, Eva tried to get balance in her feet to turn towards the light, towards out.
