DRAGON
An angry summer storm flew in from the west just before midday. Arlo ignored the wrath of the storm as sheets of rain pelted down upon his brow. Instead, he watched, mouth agape, at the fat crying toddler that sat unaccompanied in the sprawling, vivid green forest.

The Dragoon
Prologue "I remember the wind and the cracking trees. My father had me on his back as he was running. My mother, I can't remember her face, but I remember her screaming. We were running from something during a storm. I remember being in a dark place and it smelled awful. I was hungry, scared, and worst of all, I wasn’t alone."

Ankoubis
The morning started like any other. The sun rose in the east, the morning dew glistening as the world was woken gently by the warmth of the celestial body. The beasts of the ground stirred, venturing forth once more in their never-ending pursuit of food. The creatures of the air took to the skies as they sought their prey, their offspring left behind to wait patiently for any success. The forests sighed and groaned as the winds coursed through them, breathing life into them once more. Wide open land dotted with forests and woodlands covered the lands to the west as far as the eye could see. To the north, the silhouette of the mountains loomed ever present, and to the south lay the swamps and desert lands. Rivers and streams filled with all manner of life carved their way across the land, starting their journey in the mountains and hills and ending in the oceans.

A Game of Tag
Teeth gnashed at the heels of a young Elias as he ran laughing through the forest. The ancient maw of the enormous reptile stalking after him did nothing to quiet the toddlers squeals of excitement. In the back of his mind he knew his mother must be frantically searching for him at the edge of the wood. It would never occur to her that he could be deep in the forest on such a grand adventure. Yet this small flicker of worry couldn’t pierce the crushing of twigs and laughter escaping Elias’s lungs at this new form of game. Vines sprung from the ground below, entangling his little legs and turning his waddle of a run into a tumble down a rather steep hill. Mud splattered his face as he fell, matting his curled, russet hair, and small cuts formed on his rosy cheeks as twigs scrapped against his face; yet the smile still held as he skidded to a stop.

The Wondering Child
“I’ve seen you in a dream.” The girl spoke. She was fearless in the face of the vast, red-scaled dragon before her. They were utterly alone in a forest clearing made by the claws and wings of the majestic yet terrifying creature. The girl couldn’t be older than six or seven. Long black hair that flowed to her upper back. She was dressed in rags, brown and dirty, covered in soot and smudge, black from where heat tried to burn them. She was cut up from where she ran through the woods, but her eyes, a nice hazel color, shined bright with an unknowing knowledge.

What have I done?
This…thing I found lurking around outside the my cave, just on the border of the neighbouring woods, was of no familiar species. It had little to no hair, a skin than looked smoother than stone, but white as milk. It must be some sort of bald mammoth, I thought, but quickly shook the guess after failing to find any signs of tusks. A strange find indeed. And a noisy one too. The…thing screamed and cried and laughed, all within a mere minute if that were possible. I wouldn’t blame its mother for leaving it out, the way it was continuing to carry on.
