Tomorrow Never Comes
The first rays of sunlight spread across the paddy fields like liquid gold. The village slowly woke to the sounds of roosters crowing and distant cowbells. A cool breeze danced through the green fields, carrying the scent of wet earth and fresh grass.

“Guys, you won’t believe what happened last night,” Abbie said excitedly as she slipped onto the bench at the table. Shelby turned to her with an amused expression while Devon, who was about to take a bite out of his sandwich, stopped and looked at her.

My Dead Grandfather Keeps Sending Me Letters
The First Letter Three months after my grandfather's funeral, the first letter arrived. The envelope carried his familiar handwriting, the same careful script I had seen on birthday cards and holiday notes. At first, I assumed someone in the family was playing a cruel joke. Then I noticed details nobody else could know. The letter mentioned a conversation we had shared alone beside a lake ten years earlier. It ended with a sentence: "Check the attic before next Tuesday. Trust me, please, Samuel."

The Wrong Road. Runner-Up in They Shouldn’t Have Come Here Challenge.
July 19, 1994 Wei was standing on the shore of a beautiful lake the name of which he didn’t know. He’d thought it was just a pit stop on their way to his final destination in Tibet, as his driver had stopped his overheating BJ212 military surplus vehicle and opened up the hood, trying to cool it down. Wei got out of the Jeep-looking car and went to the lake shore, admiring its breathtaking beauty. When he heard the car start and turned around, he saw his bag on the ground and the car driving off. Wei shouted at the driver to wait for him, but the driver just waved him off and said something that he’d reached his destination. Or brought Wei as far as he could.

She took in a long breath, then asked the question.

The Guns Of May. Top Story - June 2026.
Thunder rolled in stark contrast to the deep blue sky above with its gently billowing clouds. Hirschel knew instinctively it was not thunder, but he did not know what else to describe the cannons drumming their tattoo beyond the horizon, so close and yet still so very far away.
