Last Call for having In-laws
Reaching out is probably beyond over

Everyone has issues with their families. No one gets along perfectly well and everyone has quirks with one another, but it is so sad to me what happened in the story with my in-laws. Finally to the point of done dealing with them monetarily, the story reaches it's close to me.
The family headed up by a doctor, first meeting them, they had a way of trying to seem scary. Because of this, I always felt uncomfortable around them. This would show on my face of course and they mocked and made fun of me for having that face. I'm sure it looked stressed and zapped out and they would mock it back to me with a malicious face. Try to speak to them about it, and of course they would deny, gaslight, and tell you your memory is just "not exactly working right."
Each year, my birthday is an important event for me. They avoided celebrating it, and when I eventually said something about it, they complained about throwing me a party. They told me the event was "big" even though to me it was small and quaint compared to most of the events they have thrown in their lives. They have had parties where they spent thousands on fireworks, game tables, and art set ups while complaining about my small cupcake decorating party. To retaliate, they even made a beach trip during that weekend. It was either not go and do what I want or watch them party at a beach without me during my time to celebrate.
Decided to go because of that and of course had good times..... Mostly away from them. Me and my spouse got to walk on the beach, go to the zoo, etc. The times with their family though was not wonderful. My mother-in-law mocked me after the long day of driving to get there and I was annoyed at her from being tired and her indirectly calling me an idiot because she didn't explain something to where it could be understandable. Everyone of course acted like I was the problem in the moment because she can just act like I was overreacting.
There was talks with them about mental health. My spouse wondered at their father why they didn't get them mental health help. The only thing they could do is instead of people who truly needed or wanted mental health help, they looked to me. I have had my share of dealing with mental health because I have PTSD from traumatic situations from childhood. I am not perfect, but have tried to live properly even still with this diagnosis. They could only sit there and blame me for being bipolar and schiz. Later in helping my spouse with their mental health and assessing theirs, they are the ones who more so have bipolar inherited through their bloodline, so seemed like a projection to me.
Control was the only word I could think throughout the interactions with them. That and the word money came up more times with them than I ever heard in my entire life. Them and their children sitting up in mini mansions complaining about money while we live in a little apartment two towns over. Was sickening to hear them complain while they ran though thousands of dollars constantly and then acting like they had no money at us. Mostly the doctor himself even who would make more money than probably even a NASA scientist. My mother-in-law at least didn't try to trick us that much about what they had
There was times in there I thought they would take accountability and come back to do better for their child. Apologize for not helping emotionally as much as they could have and to me for attacking the person they love most while making our relationship hard to navigate. No though, they blamed me instead for putting a "wedge" between them that they put there themselves. I tried harder than I ever had with anyone to get along with them, but I will bring up issues and will not be mocked and gaslit. It is a shame the last call for them to be in our lives ends with them blaming us and giving up on people they should fight for. Instead they chose to fight and compete against us, which is a true shame.
