Rainbow's End

"Will there always be a rainbow after the rain?" Sia whispered, flowing by the freezing wind that blew her red mid hair, wet and fuzzy. The rain poured over the night, and she was completely soaked despite the umbrella she was holding.

After all, it's already late, she noticed, in doubt while looking at the bluish sky. Will the rainbow still be visible?

The jeepneys have evacuated their territories. The asphalt only remembers the harsh splashes of water. The clouds have overshadowed the moon, leaving just the visible streetlights.

As she murmurs behind her ears longing, "Will still I see the rainbow?”

Sia looked up at the sky – there were no shining stars. Continuous lightning strikes insanely, giving vivid images that might burn her anytime. Her fear wouldn’t disappear until she went to the nearest waiting shed, waiting for the rain to stop. She dreamed of being in her own room, a cozy life – free from harsh winds that knock people down. "Is there a rainbow after this?" asking herself again.

She glanced at the time. It was already 10 PM. Sia, still skeptical, was still hoping for a rainbow to show – even if it was impossible as it was already night, for Sia just wants to come home.

But it didn't show.

Because perhaps, Sia knew of the saying that there’s always a rainbow after the rain, but she was never aware that she could find the end of the rainbow until a presence came.

They say it was a pot of gold, a jar of silver, or a basket of food. It depends on what you’re looking for.

It depends on what you need.

For her, it was a long-haired girl wearing her fogged glasses who joined her while waiting, soaked, and smiling as she lifts her eyes on Sia.

Right then and there, Sia knew that you would find what you were looking for at the end of the shining rainbow.
