Mrs. Cohesive entered the classroom with a stack of books under her arm, surprised. Her round brown-rimmed glasses fogged up as she saw squirrels chewing nuts, pencils, erasers, wooden chairs and tables. Her 50-year-old eyes had never seen such a commotion before.
Ante approached apprehensively, reporting.
‘Everyone has heard about the discontinuance of milk deliveries during the breaks. They all got upset.’
‘And you? Aren’t you upset too, Ante?’
‘No, I was just waiting for you, Professor. I’m looking forward to our lesson.’
‘Okay! Let’s get started!’
Then there was an all-encompassing dead silence.
