The time is 12:30 a.m. When Kahlil, Victor and Jordyn arrive at 24 Bryant street basketball court, which has now been taped off by yellow caution tape by order of the town mayor. No one has been allowed to play on a basketball court in the city for the past 3 months ever since the pandemic began. The trio are equipped with a basketball and a camera to record what follows

Kahlil: Aight yall ready?

Victor: Hold up, let me get my camera ready to record.

Jordyn: Are yall sure about this? What if we get caught?

Kahlil: J-bird, that's what I'm hoping for dawg.

Victor: Now K-Dee you know I'm down for whatever, but what do you really think you're gonna accomplish by doin this and getting' in trouble?

Kahlil: Instilling a sense of faith, it's about giving young kids like us something to believe in during these dark times when we can't play sports like we want.

Victor: Alright big man, it's on you.

Kahlil: J-bird, toss me that rock.

Victor: Camera rollin' now.

As Victor records Kahlil with Jordyn standing next to him watching, Kahlil stands in the middle of the basketball court at the free throw line facing Victor and Jordyn.

Kahlil: What up everybody, it's ya boy Kahlil Davis aka K-Dee BABY!!! As yall know this pandemic got us all in a lil sports remission, but I ain't havin' it. This is my senior year in high school and before it's all over, yall are gonna see my skills. With challenges on social media poppin' like they are, I got a new challenge for yall, I'm callin' it the “King Kahlil Challenge”.

Jordyn tosses Kahlil the basketball and over the course of 5 minutes khalil performs a mixture of basketball moves and shots including pump faking jump shots, fade away jumpers, lay up shots, and three pointers respectively. After displaying his talent Kahlil turns his attention back to the recording Victor and Jordyn.

Kahlil: And there you have it yall, I might not get my final season of high school sports like I want, but like I said, before it's all over, yall are gonna see my skills, K-DEE BABY!!! I'm out, cut it fellas.

Victor cuts off the camera as the trio get ready to depart the court.

Victor: Alright K-dee, whats next?

Kahlil: Send the video to my phone and Jordyn's from there we'll chain letter it to a few more of the homies and then we'll get them to chain letter it too.

Victor: Gotcha.

Jordyn: Gotcha.

As the trio part ways for the night, Kahlil returns home around 1:30 a.m. And goes to his room to upload his King Kahlil Challenge video on both his youtube and Facebook pages. Within ten minutes of the uploads, Khalil's video has 5 views on Facebook and 1 view on his youtube account, at this site does Khalil let out an accomplished sigh of relief and goes to bed.

At 10:30 a.m. Kahlil is suddenly awakened by the text message alert bell on his phone. The message from Victor reads “Yo check your youtube and FB pronto”. Kahlil gets on his phone to find that his King Kahlil FB video has over a thousand views with 86 shares, on his youtube the video has 2000+ views. Kahlil jumps with joy at utter disbelief that his video has gone viral. As he picks up his phone to text Jordyn and Victor, he looks out his bedroom window to see a police car pulling in his driveway. As the cops get out and approach his front door, Khalil races downstairs to find his mother Brianna has answered the door and let the cops in.

Brianna: Kahlil what's this about?

Police Officer: Khalil Davis you're gonna have to come with us son.

Kahlil: Absolutely.

With a slight smile Kahlil follows the police to their squad car where he gets in and they escort him to the local precinct. When they arrive at the precinct at 11:05 a.m. Kahlil is brought inside and sat down for questioning by police chief Karl Meisner.

Meisner: Kahlil, son. I just spent the last 30 minutes reading your record. The funny part is you don't even HAVE A RECORD, you're a good kid with no troubled history, no ties to crime or breaking the law. So I want you to explain to me why you took the time to publicly break a major law of safety that was implemented on the entire city to keep the risk of Covid at a minimum.

Kahlil: Sir, not to down your efforts of ensuring everyone's safety, but we are safe. I'm not saying everyone's health ain't at risk because it is, but yall took a lot from us kids who are athletes when you put us in quarantine, and what you took from us was our love of the game. Now I'm not suggesting it wasn't completely necessary, but I am saying the pain we've gone through because of your protocol has been unnecessary and I did what I had to do to ease that pain, to lift the spirits of everyone around here who want to see us get back on that sports ball.

Meisner: I empathize with your motivations Khalil, but nevertheless you broke the law and I'm gonna have to bring you up on charges.

Kahlil: That's perfectly fine with me sir, I knew what I was getting' myself into when I did this and I accept full responsibility and the consequences that come with it.

Meisner: Very well then. Alright boys, cuff em and sit him off to the side while I--

Officer: Sir you might wanna come take a look at this.

Meisner gets up and walks over to the speaking officer's computer with 3 more officers in tow.

Meisner: What is it Parker?

Officer Parker: It's the video sir.

Meisner: I've already seen it.

Parker: Not his, theirs.

As Meisner looks on, officer Parker shows Meisner a montage of young teenagers performing the King Kahlil challenge videos uploaded in the past hour.

Meisner: Do we know these kids?

Parker: No sir, and we won't find them either. One of these videos was filmed in New York, another in Chicago, and another in Los Angeles.

Meisner lets out a slight chuckle of impression and even respect for what Kahlil has done. He then turns his attention back to a handcuffed, yet gleefully satisfied Khalil.

Meisner: Guess you really got your point across kid.

Kahlil: Yes sir, you can take away our privileges, but you can't destroy our spirits. One day we will handle that rock again, see you on the court.

The End.
