Legend tells of a trail in the backwoods of Banff National Park. Known as a shortcut on a popular hiking trail, it is said that you must tread swiftly. For these woods are home to the most malicious creatures known. Many have not survived and have been deemed lost to the wilderness. The few that do will tell you that the shortcut wasn’t worth its time. The minute you start you will be unable to turn back and a force with the sound of enormous thundering hooves and rushing wind will chase you through the woods, to the end.

Like finallyyyyyy, I'm here! Hahahahahahhaha. I just realised that you mentioned that there are few survivors. All this time, I have been thinking that Tesha is the only survivor. I wonder how those who survived, survived. So fascinating to think about!

What an enticing micro! Makes me think of the dangers of instant gratification. It’s always better to play the long game. Great work, Donna. 👏🏼

The trail is kind of like trying to make your way on foot through a tunnel before the train comes. Excellent writing Donna!

Maybe it's the headless horseman. We have a saying, 'Long road draws sweat, but shortcut draws blood'. Choose carefully. Short and sweet story. Warning is well heeded,

Love this, Donna. Love the sense of intrigue, mystery and pending doom! As Roy said, you left enough open to interpretation that added to the whole tone. Nice work, Donna.

Love it! I think I almost took that trail once (it is the one less travelled after all) but ended up at Wilson Pass instead. I like how your menace is delightfully vague; let your readers' imaginations take a walk of their own! 😨🤯😁💖
