“Good morning beautiful,” he whispers to his wife as he hands her a cup of coffee. She smiles gently at him and sits to read the newspaper.
He stands at the kitchen sink, looking down upon her head and his heart breaks.
His wife has had a terrible time of it lately.
Her place of employment went bankrupt and she lost her job, her father passed away a week ago and her sister has turned nasty since the will reading.
Everything has slammed her all at once and he’d truly do anything, anything at all, to see her happy again.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
