In the early hours of the morning, the first human set foot on the surface of Mars. His name was Terrace and he had dreamed for this moment since he was a child.

Terrace had been selected for the mission because of his unique physical fitness mixed with his technical expertise - the perfect Earth-like Martian. After years of training, he is now finally standing on the dusty red soil.

Years of training have passed way faster than the seven months he spent in the ship on the way to Mars.

"I landed! I'm still alive!"

As he stepped out of the landing pod, Terrace felt a rush of excitement and fear. He took a deep breath and looked out at the endless expanse of red before him. He is testing the ground beneath his feet.

"I can walk, I can walk!"

The soil was dry and powdery, he could feel it crunching beneath his boots. He took another step, then another, and soon he realises he was walking across the surface of Mars, the first human to ever do so.

"It seems I am alone in this red sea! All I can see is red!"

He spent hours exploring, taking samples of the soil and rocks and testing the air for signs of life. But no matter where he looked, there was no evidence of anything living on Mars.

"Boys we might be alone in the Solar System!"

Terrace's excitement began to transform into exaustion. The weight of his spacesuit alone made his trained physique no longer count. He wanted badly to climb a hill.

"This will be my last stop for today!"

He was determined to make the most of his time on the planet. He finally climbed to the top of a nearby hill and looked at the landscape below.

"I climbed Terrace Hill on Mars."

As the sun began to set, Terrace knew it was time to head back to the landing pod. He took one last look around, tried to memorize the sounds of Mars and then he went back down the hill.

"I am going back in the Pod!"

This was the first day of the first human on Mars. On the way back to the pod he gathered all the equipment, all the samples and all of his thoughts to prepare a more detailed report of what he encountered.

"I feel like the first human walking on Mars!"

When he finally reached the landing pod, he felt a sense of relief. He had done it. That's something he would never forget that's something hammered in stone. As he settled into the pod for the night, a big sandstorm started.

"There's sand everywhere! I can't see anything outside!"

Terrace couldn't help but wonder how can humans create a habitable place on Mars. Would humans be able one day to live on the planet permanently? Can Mars be terraformed?

"Oh boy, there's a lot of work to be done!"

He's positive and grateful. This is just the first of the seven days he has left to explore and gather informations about the red planet. The sand storm is over. He's now seeing the sunset through the pod's windows.

"This is the most intense red I've seen in my entire life!"

His next step before going to sleep is to prepare his next mission, find and fix a NASA Rover. The Rover dissapeared few months ago and it contains scientific data which is more than worth saving.

"This is the most difficult mission, the rover is definitely covered in sand!"

"Will I be able to accomplish all the missions in only 8 days?"

For now, those questions remained unanswered. But as Terrace went to sleep, he knew one thing for sure, his journey on Mars was just at the beginning.

Looking forward to the next instalment! I thoroughly enjoyed this. I was able to gain a distinct sense of place and time. Your descriptive langue focus was very engaging. Interspersed with the direct speech elements of Terrace. To be expected when alone on Mars but craftily woven into your storytelling. Well done! 🌸
