A Gay Romance for All Ages.

Dakotas' three friends had been able to stop and dismounted their dirt bikes and ran to the cliff face. They could not see their friend or his bike through the mist and clouds that filled the valley below. His friends were further devastated as they heard Dakota’s motorcycle explode.

At the last possible moment, hidden by this heavy cloud and fog, Jacey was able to grab hold of the back of Dakotas motor bike jacket with his large muscular just as his bike disappeared over the cliff.

They both fell to the ground, Jacey on top of Dakota, face to face. Dakota went to scream but Jacey covered his mouth with one hand while he held a finger across his own lips indicating the need for silence. Dakota nodded in agreement as he continued to still stare at Jacey in disbelief. Jacey also in disbelief. He was laying on top of the human that he desired so much.

Dakota went to speak after a minute or two but again Jacey indicated for the human to be quiet. Jacey then whispered to Dakota.

“If your kind discovers me, they will hunt me down and kill me.” Jacey was desperate for Dakota to remain quiet, so his friends did not find the couple lying on the forest floor. In a way Jacey was begging.

Jacey removed his hand from Dakota's mouth and in return Dakota placed a finger against his own lips to indicate that he would remain quiet. With his other hand he motioned that he meant Jacey no harm.

“I will lead you back to the village.” Jacey was still whispering.

“No” Dakota quietly exclaimed!

“Whisper” Jacey was direct. “Why no” he asked?

“I can’t go back” Dakota began to explain. “Some people want me dead.” Dakota’s face fill with shame and anxiety.

“They hunt you too, like they hunt me?” Jacey was trying to understand.

“Yes! yes…” Dakota quietened himself. He was desperate to find some common ground with Jacey. Jacey was still slightly confused so Dakota tried to explain his position.

“In an effort to remain in Chickaloon between jobs I borrowed some money, a lot of money. I took it to a game of poker and lost it all and then some. They will kill me if I go back. The guy I borrowed the cash from has put a bounty on my head” He explained to Jacey.

“Money”? Jacey had no concept of finances and money.

“Yes money” Dakota was a little frustrated by Jacey’s lack of understanding. “I owe this guy thousands and interest on top of that and I don’t have any of it. This shark is going to skin me alive and shoot me in the head” Dakota looked at the ground in defeat.

Jacey understood what being skinned alive and being shot in the head meant so he grew increasingly concerned for Dakota.

“No! that cannot be” now Dakota looked a little confused.

“I know that this is an odd request.” Dakota had a proposition for Jacey, he was able to think fast. “Let me stay with you, help me blend in and hide here in these mountains. Just until I can work out what I am going to do about the money I owe, or the guy I owe the money too finds somebody else to torment”. Dakota should have known then that a loan shark never forgets the money he/she is owed. Dakota was now capable of faking his own death. His friends thought he was dead; he had a chance of getting away with it (as cruel as he realised was to do to his friends and loved ones) and getting away from the loan shark, “ ‘Barbaric Barry’. Soon the word would be out that he had died crashing his bike off the steep, sheer cliff face.

“The forest welcomes all of us” Jacey stated as he began to walk away, into the lush understory of the pine forest. Dakota followed close behind.

Jacey could not help smiling, the young man that had been central to his everyday life was now walking next to him in the forest. He had dreamt of this day since he had first laid his bright yellow eyes on the guy that became the obsession of his heart.

“What are you smiling about?” Dakota asked, returning Jacey’s smile.

“The way of fate” Again Dakota looked confused…

Seasons change and eventually the freezing winter gives way to a beautiful spring followed by a warm summer. Dakota had begun to adjust to life in the wild with his new companion. By Mid-summer, the creeks and streams became warm enough to swim in or take a simple bath. For the warmer months they left Jacey’s cave to take up residence next to one of these waterways.

The young men began to bond and open up to each other and as a result the conversations had grown more personal, and they even started joking around with each other. As they learnt about each other they bounded and created an extraordinarily strong friendship. They created a loyal bound that would last for life, a bond that would become their life…

Jacey was not ashamed to be naked in front of Dakota but Dakota, in the beginning, was embarrassed to be naked before his companion, though eventually he got used to it and lost his shame about being naked.

The first time that Jacey dropped his dear skin covering in front of Dakota, Dakota was amazed at the perfection of his physic, even though he had horns. He had only ever thought this of a couple of young ladies but that was a lifetime ago now. He had no idea Jacey also thought this about his form. In Jacey’s eyes Dakota was perfect, even though he lacked horns.

Dakota kept his feelings and confusion to himself. He was not sure what he was feeling for Jacey was right or wrong, not because Jacey was a male but because he was not quite human. This morality bit at Dakota daily, what was wrong with his feelings for Jacey anyway? They were pure in intent.

Several times he questioned whether it was fair to stay in the forest with the Fawn he had affection for or should he return to Chickaloon and take his chances with the loan shark, who after all of this time would be mad as hell.

One night they were deep in conversation. Dakota wanted to know more about Fawns and where they had come from in the first place.

“I have heard of your kind before” he admitted, “I mean in old tribal stories of legend and myth, told by my ancestors.” He added.

“Our ancestors” Jacey corrected his human companion.

“What do you mean” Dakota sounded surprised.

“My ancestors and your ancestors are the same people” Jacey smiled.

“Wow.” Dakota spun out a little.

“I don’t know how, when, or why my kind came into creation. I do not really know everything that happened in the tribes of that time, but I do know that some women gave birth to children like me. Over time our numbers built. For centuries we all existed in peace, then came the white man and their government policies. They said we were not people but animals and they hunted us down like animals, they thought that they drove ``The Horned” to extinction, but they failed to kill me. I am the only Fawn that remains.” Jacey explained sadly.

They sat in silence until the moon was high in the starlight sky.

Dakota broke the silence. “You are not a different species at all, you're human too! Dakota could not hide his excitement.

“In a way” Jacey responded before the pair returned to silence.

Even during the heat of summer weather conditions high in the Alaskan alpine zone can change within minutes. A fierce cold front rapidly moved in on the human and the fawn whist, they were enjoying a playful swim. They had no warning as they were hit by freezing winds and white out snow, naked and wet.

“We have to get out of here’ Jacey called.

Jacey turned to face Dakota, but he had vanished.

For the hours that the blizzard lasted for, Jacey continued to search blindly in the severe storm for Dakota. Even after the storm front had passed the Fawn continued to look for his love in every part of the local forest that Dakota knew. There was no trace of him and as a result Jacey was devastated and was driven mad by concern.

Heartbroken, he began the long journey back to his cave where he usually stayed over winter. The daylight gave way to the night and Jacey watched his namesake, Earth's Luna body, rise high into the night sky. Off the edge of a cliff Jacey let out a pain felt howl, expressing his pain and loss and the wolves answered, howling back to let him know he was not alone. His bright yellow eyes allowed tears to run down his face. He dropped to his knees and thought to himself, how could he have let this happen?

Eventually heartbroken and sad, the Fawn slowly walked into the darkness. He had never felt such pain before.

As he approached his humble dwelling he stopped suddenly. From within his cave came the glow of a small fire. Surely, he thought, it could only be his human companion, Dakota!

Jacey excitedly burst into the cave to be greeted by his love. His eyes appeared even more alive with raw emotion.

“I thought you would like some warmth after all of that snow.” Dakota smiled; his features warmed by the light of the fire.

Jacey walked straight up to Dakota “I thought I lost you. I want you.” He whispered as he wrapped his wild arms around Dakota.

In their moment of relief and desire the young men found their love for each other in a long gentle kiss, a love that they committed to each other would last the rest of this existence and well into the next.

One morning, several weeks later both Jacey and Dakota looked out over the valley below them. The air smelt like ozone and an electric feeling buzzed throughout the forest.

“The gods are angry today.” Jacey said as he watched the hair on his arms and legs stand up on end. The light, filtering through the approaching clouds, gave the landscape an eerie blue hue.

“What do you mean”? Dakota asked, eager to learn as much as possible about his new culture.

“Bad things happen when the Gods are angry” Jacey added as the approaching clouds began exploding with lightning. There was no rainfall, the storm was dry and electrical.

As the pair watched the lightning approach Jacey noticed several spot fires created by the lightning were now burning, growing stronger with the wind of the storm, joining up to form a large fire front.

“Look”! Dakota pointed to the growing fire in the valley below.

“Wildfire, we need to get out of here. The wind is telling the flames to come our way. We leave now” Jacey instructed.

Quickly the young men ran into the forest looking for a way out so they could escape the rapidly moving forest fire. It was very quickly catching up with the pair.

Dakota had to stop, he was out of breath but there was not time to slow down and recover. Jacey called for him to catch up and keep going. It was obvious that Dakota was spent. Jacey put two fingers in his mouth and let out a large whistle. He needed assistance or the lovers were going to die in the fire.

Within seconds two huge stages found Jacey and Dakota. When they did the animals dropped their heads in submission.

“Get on the deer” Jacey pleaded.

“I can’t ride a horse let alone a mature stage!” Dakota pleaded back.

“Get on” Jacey screamed again as the deer got down on all four legs to usher the human to its back. Reluctantly, Dakota mounted the Deer and the four of them raced off in their attempt to get away from the danger.
