PART 1 OF 4 OF THE DAKOTA FAWN JACEY HUMAN SERIES.

A GAY ROMANCE FOR ALL AGES

In Chickaloon, North Alaska during the winter months there are next to no jobs going in the tiny population of 272 people. If you could handle the cold and the freezing sub-zero winters, you would consider Chickaloon a slice of heaven.

Chickaloon is positioned close to Weiner Lake, which is full of abundant aquatic life and animal life in the alpine pine forests that covered the snow-capped mountains. These surrounded the little village and many creatures such as snow cats, grizzly and black bears, elk, deer, and other creatures, some real, some the story of myth and legend, also could be found up on these mountains.

Dakota had to land this position for more reasons than one. He wanted to stay in his home area, the area of his tribe and ancestors, this was his country too. He also was in debt, that if not paid carried fatal consequences.

If he failed at his attempt to gain employment he would have to move to the small Alaskan city of Anchorage. Something he especially did not want to do as it would bring him into closer proximity to his loan shark.

Dakota had a positive spirit and a way of looking at life. The Job he was applying for was advertised as a chef’s position, he could cook well, that should be all he needed to land the job. Plus, in a town the size of Chickaloon there was not an abundance of chefs looking for work, especially during the winter when tourists and hunting parties tended not to visit.

Dakota took one last breath to build up his confidence before exiting his old orange Ford 100. As he walked across the carpark and into Jackie’s Restaurant and Bar, a bright yellow pair of eyes observed his every move from the thick stand of Pine trees on the opposite side of the car park.

While Dakota was inside the wind became harsher and stronger creating a dangerous wind chill factor. The yellow eyes did not move from their position, waiting for Dakota to reappear outside.

Jumping up and down in celebration for landing the job, Dakota made his way back to his F-100. Still cheering he pulled out of the car park and headed for home, where no one was waiting for him so after a few beers he went to bed.

As he slid naked under the sheets, he realized how cold they were. Not warmed by a lover. He truly felt alone after his girlfriend left him 2 years ago. He was ready to share his love again with a truly open heart.

The yellow pair of eyes that had been watching his every move belonged to a Fawn, a young male by the name of Jacey. He was the last of his kind as his kin had been hunted, by humans, to extinction so he too wanted companionship.

After the taillights of Dakotas' ride disappeared into the night, Jacey retreated to his winter cave, deep within the forest. Where he also felt the coldness of loneliness. He wished to love to but there were no more fawns to pair with. Jacey often dreamed what it might be like to love and be loved by a human.

The hunting parties that used to come to Chickaloon were secretly paid to hunt the Fawns down under the governments ‘Human Only Policy’. Humanoid species such as Fawns were considered as non-human creatures that were not acceptable life forms, abominations, therefore they were to be destroyed. This was unfortunate as early human species and ‘The Horned’ as they were once called, lived side by side and in total peace for nearly 1000 years.

The descendants of the Fawn were human, in local Indian tribes that existed thousands of years ago, long before white man explored the northern wilderness. In these tribes, many of the young women’s pregnancies were affected by a genetic mutation that took place. As a result, the first Fawn children were born into the world. A younger sub-species of humanoids. They became a new species in creation, a part of natural evolution. Fawns shared nearly all their DNA with humans, just with a few different genes.

Even though humans were a direct threat to Jacey, he was still fascinated by them, especially one, Dakota. In his 19 years of life, he studied many more humans, but his attention always came back to Dakota. He was not stalking him but in fact learning about him, he had no idea why he was attracted to the young human male in the first place. Every day the Fawn made the journey from deep within the woods to observe his human subject. Not once did he miss a day.

Jacey sat up on the cliff face in front of his cave and watched the moon rise into the starlit sky. The light reflected by earth's Luna body was so bright that shadows could be seen in the darkness.

The Fawn studied his shadow cast by the moonlight. His body was every bit as perfect as Dakotas, that is except for his horns. His only feature that separated Jacey from humankind, preventing him from meeting his favourite. This was unfortunate as Jacey’s horns were magnificent and added to the young buck’s beauty, a feature that he should have been proud of but when he came of age and had tattooed his naked skin with the tribal markings of his ancestors, he even tried to wear them down by filing them against stones and rocks, but every time they grew back.

His horns appeared to look like a crown that kept dividing into spikes like those of a dear. His own parents had been hunted down and killed for their horns, which were very financially lucrative. Especially as the hunters were paid for the horns they collected on top of the government's payment for ‘The Human Only Policy.’

He laid back with his hands behind his head. Dakota’s face was the last thing he thought of before he closed his eyes, drifting into a deep sleep by his little campfire.

The next morning Dakota and three of his friends were dirt bike riding, speeding along the tiny paths that led through the fog filled forest. Jacey was easily able to run along with the bikes, though he stayed well out of sight, enjoying the adventure.

Suddenly Jacey panicked. Up ahead, hidden by the low cloud and fog, was a cliff face and Dakota in the lead was careering straight towards it.

Dakota slammed on his bike’s brakes, he was going too fast and was not going to stop in time. The bike fell to its side and slid across the moss and stones disappearing over the cliff face along with Dakota…
