Beware the Weaverdivots!

Weaverdivot: A temporary dent or cut-out left in carpeted floors when heavy objects/furniture are moved. Weaverdivots can last from a few minutes to a few days depending on the weight of said moved object, and can be quite dangerous to woolenfluffs.

“SONOFA!” Wopplebuff spat as he lay face down in a weaverdivot.

Luckily, the depression he fell into was left by a relocated endtable. It wasn’t deep. He could climb out, unlike the previous day when the humans moved their new sofa.

Then he had to be rescued by his clan. They tied themselves in a chain and lowered themselves into the crater to lift him out. It was a dangerous mission, but it had to be done. Wopplebuff was their leader, afterall.

Wopplebuff, the oldest, but certainly not wisest woolencock in the Woolenfluff clan had lived in the carpeted fibers of the living room for weeks. Nobody could believe he lasted so long. Woolenfluffs typically have a very short lifespan. Wopplebuff had been stepped on, run over, carried away on the fur of the cat’s ass, and fallen multiple times into weaverdivots.

He twice was sucked up into the vacuum. Yet he was still there, which irritated Bitchelbuff, the senior of the woolenhens. Bitchelbuff had been groomed to become the first woolenhen leader of the Woolenfluff clan. She just had to wait for Wopplebuff’s time to pass.

She was millimetres away when she noticed the humans moving the sofa yet again. Wopplebuff was directly in the path of the legs. Nobody heard the scream as the sofa came down upon him. Nobody but Bitchelbuff.

“Good riddance, you old cock” she sneered before preparing to inform the clan of the, uh, tragic news.

Goodness, this had my heart pounding. Had to read it twice. You're so creative with those names, it's like I was reading a Dr. Seuss story or maybe Lewis Carroll. On the same token, reminded me of Cats the musical but in a Toy Story fashion, lol! Beautiful words, all, but weaverdivot is my favorite of the bunch. It just rolls off the tongue!

Oh I love this!! Such a cool little micro-world!

  • Ah, Cathy, are you trying to pull the woolenfluff over our eyes. Greater word. We have weaverdivots in this old carpet that never seem to want to disappear.

Oh my goodness Cathy, you are one of a kind! I have no idea how you come up with this stuff. You didn’t just make up a word, you made up many… and created an entire world, turning the mundane into something extraordinary. That last line made me cackle. 🤣 Congrats! 🥂

Very very funny. Shared this one with my wife. This could make a great twisted children's show.

Tragic indeed. That's a really brilliant piece of comi-tragedy then, I know the weaverdivots well, but never knew a word for them. They're everywhere!
