When they met at a pub for a coffee, their first date, he ordered black, she an Irish. Even though he didn’t flinch, she saw it in his eyes. “Don’t worry,” she said. “We’ll go Dutch.”


They decided to take it slow, so they got married one day shy of three months later. The baby came seven months after the wedding – the one with the glances and side bets.


Their boys are grown now and they are still together, still learning about themselves, each other, and how to love both.
