Dream

It has been two and a half months since Dream –though that wasn’t his name at the time– had set out on his mission, Dream and his two friends. They pretty much followed Dream wherever and did whatever he needed, and for this endeavor that was very useful.

They had left their home and went from town to town asking questions and gathering information, by whatever means necessary. Whenever they did something drastic, they did their best to not draw attention to themselves.

Another thing Sapnap and George were useful for was hiding the evidence, blood, limbs, bodies. Determined, to say the least when it came to this mission.

Neither of them had much, they were middle to lower class people, but they wanted more, as anyone of their status would. Supremacy, recognition, refutation, and retribution in some cases. Dream had his eyes set on something, or someone rather, who he was determined to find.

The only deity that thrived on their humble soil, it was said he stayed in a forest unknown or in the deepest depths of the earth. Either way Dream was resolved to find this being and he was vehement in every aspect of his questing.

He had found a relic in the lowest parts of the mountains, far beyond any paths of mining. A blade unknown to his eyes, is a shimmering shade of fiery reds and oranges. When he picked it up it felt different to him, and he didn’t know how he knew what it was capable of.

So, he tested it, he went searching for any monsters lurking in the deep. He soon found his target and easily took it down plunging his new weapon in the Zombies wriggling body, rotten discolored blood covering his blade.

The sword glowed and the blood evaporated, and Dream saw veins of light penetrate his skin, it didn’t hurt no in fact he felt physically stronger. He figured further that the weapon was meant for a form of power absorption.

Dream smiled at his newfound extension of his luck, once he heard of this god who lived on his world, the only god who dwelled in a mortal form, he knew exactly what he needed to do. He could conquer lands, cities, anywhere it was not in question what his next undertaking would be.

And now three months since he had found the instrument, he was closer than ever to finding where this deity dwelled. His hobby was fighting, running, being in near death experiences not everyone’s first pick for life occupations. And it wasn’t for everyone.

Sapnap and George were his closest friends and allies, they backed him up in almost every decision he made. Sapnap was the brawler, and he did most of the heavy lifting, if you will, and had been friends with Dream ever since they were boys.

George was more of the “go forth and do” kinda person, he could fight but he was better at being a follower and an accountant of sorts. He made sure they had everything they needed and was in charge of keeping it that way. And he had eyes and ears as well which was something very useful for them. And had also been friends with Dream for a very long time.

Now Dream, Dream was the leader, strategist, and best fighter. He wasn’t afraid to do what had to be done, he didn’t care much for those who were not his close friends, in a manner of speaking. And he wasn’t fazed by blood or gore, if it was an enemy at the end of his sword, he enjoyed it to some extent.

He was on the side a master manipulator, a word twister, a backbiter, a cognitive genius, and mental health destroyer if need be. And a liar at times, and a skilled one at that.

But even with his intimidating reputation that his friends were well aware of, they would still follow him to the end, without a second thought.

They rode for what seemed like an eternity when Dream pulled his horse to a halt. He took in a deep breath and looked around, seeming to take in everything around him. He looked down at the ground and saw the oddest thing.

The wind blew in his face, and it was blowing towards the south, but the grass and leaves on the trees were blowing and swaying the opposite direction. Dream raised his head and smiled. “This is it,“ He snickered, “burn it.”

Sapnap and George didn’t question whether they knew what Dream was doing. They took out their flint and shards of steel and set the trees and grass a blaze. Dream scattered explosives around the large burning area and waited for the fire to catch the fuse.

Before long the TNT was activated, and it served its purpose. The ground cracked and shook, the trees seemed to be uprooting themselves, and the wind blew in a fury. Dream stepped back at the sight of the large crack spreading in the ground below him.

“Dream?!” George called out nervous but not yet doubtful. Dream stood his ground as something emerged from the ground. The crack grew larger as a transparent being seemed to fly out from the ground. It landed and became a solid form.

When his feet came in contact with the ground it was like thunder, the grass rippled in the wind that was pushed out from under the god. When he looked them in the eye a glowing X materialized around his head.

He wore green flowing garments that were lined with gold and his skin was black as ink freshly spilled on a page. His fist tightened as the two sets of wings on his back folded.

“Why have you disturbed me and my dwelling place?” When the god spoke, his voice seemed to come from the deepest depths of the earth. It echoed through the sky, and his white feathers shifted.

DreamXD

Dream stood still not saying a word. His friends were doing the same but seemed slightly more fearful, but it was hard to tell. Dream drew his weapon, but it was his ax, he wasn’t going to show all his cards just yet.

Dream smiled under his mask and lunged forward. The god, who was an XD, did the same but was more invasive than Dream. Dream slid under DreamXD’s spirit-like sword that materialized in his hand when he charged at Dream. Dream came back onto his feet and turned his ax over in his hand, so it faced backwards then back sliced at DreamXD.

DreamXD blocked by turning on the dime causing a blade collision. DreamXD knocked Dream onto the ground, Dream flowed his fall rolling on his shoulder landing on his knee and pushing himself up. He rushed back towards the XD.

They went at it for a while, and it was surprising to see that Dream was almost equally standing his ground against a god. DreamXD was a god, but he was in mortal form. Dream knew he couldn’t hurt the XD with his ax, he was using it more for tiring out purposes.

Sapnap and George watched as the two went at it. DreamXD swung his blade down on Dreams' shield that he had just now drawn, the shield shattered into a million pieces with a crack. Dream fell backward, being caught off balance.

With no time to react, DreamXD had Dream by the throat against a tree, DreamXD raised his weapon, but Dream grabbed his wrist. DreamXD had already landed some hits on Dream as well, the god wasn’t the only one who was bleeding.

Dream with his other hand, reached to the sword that hung on his hip. He drew it out and on the sword's way out of its sheath, it sliced across DreamXD’s stomach.

The god let go of Dream stepping back with a yell that shook the ground. Dream held his throat and coughed. He grasped his weapon holding it downward, breathing heavily. DreamXD held his wound and blood leaked through his fingers.

Dream looked at his sword as the blood on it evaporated, he felt stronger. DreamXD’s gaze gravitated to the weapon that Dream held. “Where did you get that?” The deity asked in a low threatening, but almost fearful voice.

Dream looked down at it and smiled. He didn’t answer and began to make his way to DreamXD. The god drew his own weapon and stood his ground. Dream picked up his ax that was knocked out of his hand and put it on his back, he wasn’t going to be needing that weapon.

He ran at DreamXD trying to get as many hits as possible, the more power he drained from the XD the better. Dream swung his sword, and it was blocked once again. Dream noticed the blocks weren’t as strong as before and this meant that his method was working.

He got a hit on the XD’s shoulder and that seemed to trigger something. DreamXD yelled out and went more aggressively at Dream. He grasped his sword and sliced down at Dream, once, twice, three times then spinning around and coming back with a second blade in his other hand landing a fourth blow.

Dream went to block the fifth hit, the XD with all his might came down with his blade in a X formation. This blasted Dream backward causing him to roll over multiple times. Dream groaned and went to get up, but he felt something being slammed onto his chest.

He looked up to see DreamXD had planted his foot on his chest preventing him from getting up. It was inhuman strength, and it was hard to breathe. XD pointed his blade at Dream's throat. As subtle as possible Dream reached down and grabbed a small knife out from his belt.

He drew it out and dug it deep into DreamXD’s leg, he was caught off guard and stepped off of Dream crying out. Dream slammed his leg into DreamXD’s causing the god to fall to the ground. Dream leaped to his feet and stood over DreamXD, and without hesitation plunged his sword into the XD’s chest.

The god gave out another pained cry, but it sounded strained. Dream had come down with such power that the blood flew onto his mask and clothes. He shoved the blade down harder, and the god yelled, grabbing at the grass beneath him.

Dream felt the energy draining from the god and into himself. DreamXD sputtered and spit out blood coughing, the color from his face depleted, and he went still. After the energy had completely sapped from DreamXD his skin went gray and his eyes dark, his face lifeless.

Dream extracted his sword from the body and stepped back watching as the glowing in his veins disappeared. Sapnap and George ran over asking if he was alright. Dream looked at them with a bored and exhausted face, his injuries stung but he decided to ignore it.

“You two were a lot of help.” Dream said sarcastically. They gave him no response except for Sapnap coming over to see if Dream needed any help. They walked the whole way back to the last village they were at. Their horses had run off, so it took them a while.

After some much-needed rest, it was time to start planning and training. Dream tested himself and his new power, he could take on anyone. He was a god.

He gained followers and crowds, then a small mass, then an army. He conquered lands and made a name for himself, quite literally. He had taken on the name Dream; he had just left the XD part behind.

But the day he had killed the XD he bent down to the body, taking his finger and pressing to the blood-soaked ground. He drew an X of blood across his mask almost as a warning that he, himself, had killed a god.
