Act VI, Scene III: A Fair Thought

From: "Not Much Ado About Anythynge"

By Gerard DiLeoPublished 10 months ago 1 min read
"Choose your poison!"

His eyes drifted from Ophelia, set

On a fairer maiden, Juliet.

"Gams like those are like the sweet parting yams

Merging as one fine, fair thought of Mesdames."

Juliet's breath stank of foul nightshade

Romeo, Romeo, where art thine 'ade,

Physostigmine-laced, to be not afraid?

Ophelia has hid the remedy

Anticholinesterase recipe;

Says she, "I hate that Romeo--goddam--

Can't help it because I amb what iamb."

    "I iamb what I iamb" is priceless punchline to this leggy little number. So punny. :)

    Your writing is so clever. Your word play and creativity with them makes me feel a bit thick and in awe. Respect to you.
