EPIGRAPH

Its February 14th the Valentine’s Day gala evening 2021

Jenny had to make a choice between two men.

“Could I be in love with two men?” says Jenny to herself

Jenny never thought in a million years she would fall in love again after her Husband Dave was brutally murdered in January 2019. Police claimed it was an attack by wild animals who had escaped from Central Park Zoo but Jenny knew the attacks were carried out by a werewolf but who would believe her??

Jenny’s hands start to tremble as she gets ready to send the text messages.

Darius: CEO of Glaxo international. Tall, athletic, mysterious, intelligent, British and an immortal.

A vampire in the evening and a CEO in the daytime, very wealthy and totally irresistible!

James: a journalist and her brother’s best friend from college, he was hot, Tall, smart, chiselled features and a nice guy who Jenny could have endless conversations with.

Jenny must make the decision, who was she going to go to the valentine’s ball with and who was she going to pick as her Mr right? Should Jenny follow her head or her Heart? Her fingers start to tremble as she sends text messages to both men.

Chapter 1- The small brown paper box

A package arrives in her mail box

Jenny slowly unwraps it to reveal a small brown paper box. She lifts open the lid to reveal a key to an apartment. There’s also a note, she quickly reads it,

“This is a key to my heart, drop by later, I need to see you.”

Jenny recognises the handwriting.

Her train of thought is slowly interrupted as the doorbell rings

Mrs Pistola stands at the door with her grey unruly hair and her black cardigan and skirt which looks creased and needs to be Ironed!

“Hello darling, where’s my little angel?” Says Mrs Pistola with a big grin on her face as she spots Lilly rose walking towards her.

Lilly rose chuckles and points her finger at Mrs Pistola.

Jenny picks up Lilly rose and hands her over to Mrs Pistola who will be her babysitter for this evening.

“I promise I won’t be late; I’ve just got some unfinished business to take care of” says Jenny wiping her brow.

“No problem dear, take your time,” says Mrs Pistola

“I’m taking Betsy with me as I haven’t taken her out for a walk, so see you later!” Says Jenny giving Mrs Pistola a quick peck on the cheek and kisses the top of Lilly rose's head,

Jenny places the small brown paper box in her handbag as she heads out of the front door with Betsy following her out wagging her tail!

Jenny starts the ignition key of the car and drives towards Manhattan from Jamaica estate.

Chapter 2- The Key

Thirty minutes later, Jenny reaches her destination and looks up at the tall building, its still day time and the sun is shining as she squints her eyes.

“Come on Betsy, lets go and pay Darius a Visit!”

Betsy wags her tails and starts to bark with excitement!

Jenny presses the button in the elevator as it starts to move upwards, Betsy starts to bark as it suddenly comes to a holt.

The number flashes on the 70th floor as the bell makes a noise.

Jenny heads towards apartment 70a, her Heart starts to beat faster, and her pulse rate is racing, Betsy wags her tail as Jenny gets the key out of the brown box, she puts the key into the keyhole and turns the handle clockwise.

Jenny steps into the apartment which looks very dark with the blinds pulled down.

She walks to the living room where she spots a male figure slumped on the sofa.

Darius eyes start glowing red and he looks drunk. He is topless with his abs fully exposed.

Jenny gasps in shock as she tries to compose herself and Betsy starts barking.

“Why did you send me your apartment keys? I made my choice, and I chose James”

Without any time passing by, Darius rushes to her side in a split second

Jenny can smell the alcohol on his breath.

“I could have made you happy, but you chose that mortal” says Darius with blurry eyes

“I don’t need your keys and James is a Human and we can grow old together and he can be a father figure for Lilly rose, it just wouldn’t work ……….

Before Jenny can finish her sentence, Darius swoops Jenny in his arms and presses his lips against hers. Jenny feels breathless and feels her body tingling form head to foot,

Jenny can feel his length press against her stomach, she pushes Darius backwards.

“I’m with James now, so please don’t waste your time, you’re my Boss and I hope we can still be friends” says Jenny

“I still love you and I want you; I will continue to fight for you, keep the key.” Says Darius with passion in his eyes, He puts his hands through his hair.

“I’m working on a vaccine with my vampire blood which contains antibodies that can destroy the Covid virus, I’m meeting with the CEO tomorrow at Johnson modem company to introduce the vaccine and hopefully land a good deal, can I have a kiss for good luck?” Says Darius with a cheeky grin. Jenny plants a quick peck on Darius cheek

“Good luck for tomorrow, come on Betsy, time to go” says Jenny placing the Keys in the brown box and shoving it into her handbag,

Darius gives Jenny a wink and waves good bye, as Jenny turns to leave the apartment, she smiles form ear to ear!

A few days later, Jenny receives a phone call from Darius mobile number

A crackling noise can be heard

“Hello” says Jenny

A husky voice speaks up “If you want to see Darius alive, you will come to the Millennium tower alone this evening at 7pm, so don’t be late, or else!”

The phone gets disconnected, Jenny can hear her heart beat and the palms of her hands start to sweat.

What should Jenny do?
