Winter Holidays Yay or Nay

Where I Stand On The Holidays This Year

As children we grow up expecting gifts during the holiday season almost like our parents raise us that way or something. Even though it is the season of giving why is it that we all exepect to get something during this time, but even worse if we don't we all are a little disappointed. The holiday of giving, more like the season of greediness. Don't get me wrong I like getting gifts more than the next person I just also believe we have lost sight of what the holidays are about.

They are about spending time with all the people you love and are thankful for. To reminisce about all the memories, good and bad that have happened throughout the year with family and loved ones. It is time to spend time, laugh, and even create more memories with those same people.

If this last year has taught us anything it should have taught us that we can never take the people we love for granted. If this lesson has been caught on to by most people, it is at this same time that we are being separated from those we love. In most cases, if not all we aren't going to be able to take part in the true meaning of the holiday because of the craziness of the world.

So even as we are beginning to realize that the people around us is what matters most, we are yet again being forced to make it all about the stuff.

Even though I'm torn apart at the idea I may not be able to see all the loved ones in my life this holiday, I'm also kinda relieved as well that way it won't become a game of who gave and who got the best gift almost as if acting like it was a pissing match.

I love giving more than I receive, that being said I always seem to get more than I give and then up feeling guilty for not getting anyone anything.

So my thought is that I have conflicting thoughts on whether or not things are going to get canceled this year.

On the one hand yay, that way I don't have to feel guilty about not getting gifts whether people are judging or not.

On the other hand, Nay because I won't be able to spend this time with family focusing on the real meaning of the holidays.

Everyone has loved ones even though they might not have "a Family." Make sure you tell your loved ones how much they mean to you because as we all know anything can happen in no time at all.

You don't have to send things to do that either, make a funny video and hit send, type up a letter and email it, heck make a reel on Instagram and tag the person it's meant for so you can also make someone else smile. Do anything to cheer anyone up, god knows we all need to be cheered up these days.

Sometimes the smaller more meaningful things mean more than all that stuff that costs money.

Heck, you don't even have to spend money if you feel obligated to give a materalistic object. It's called make something. Yes with your two hands even if you aren't the best at it. A virtual thing or a physical thing, it does not matter; what matters is that person who you give it to will be happy it came from you.

Like I said gifts and material things are good too but sometimes less is more.

Hopefully, this got you thinking about how you may do things differently this year even if there are certain restrictions where you are located.

Happy Holidays and Have a Good New Year!!!
