Posted this on Facebook a couple of days ago and have had the urge to share it here. To mark my mom and her tireless efforts to bring joy to the world. She wasn’t a perfect mom but who of us can say we were perfect or are perfect. Yet I can say that we should look at people more closely and see the them for the them that is them. So hold your love ones closer, tell them you love them, spend time with them and just enjoy life. Live life, be in the present.
It’s funny a year ago I posted this picture about how time flies. it’s a pic of my mom and me a long time ago in a galaxy far away.

Last night mom passed away and here I get the memory of this picture. She was a good mom, a good wife, a great grandmother, a good friend, a good person over all.
When friends came over she would treat them as her own children. A lot of em got adopted and were expected to show up often. Some were even treated better than us.
Christmas was such a big thing with her. She would set up for it all year round. Making sure to buy the right gifts for the right people. At work she would leave the house like Santa to give out gifts. And in turn she would come home with so many gifts. She had lists for friends and family and Christmas Day we would go from house to house handing out gifts. And wow would she decorate it always looked like a professional decorator. Beautiful set ups, her Christmas collection of decorations is so huge and so many different things. We would sit there every Christmas trying to figure out what got used this Christmas. There would never be gifts lacking under the beautiful tree. As you can tell Christmas was a set up that happened year round. This Christmas is definitely going to be a little less bright. The lights will be a little dimmer but they will be up. They will go up because they have her essence because it is her. In memory of her and to have her here with us in spirit.
I’m going to miss her kindness her big heart and especially her smile. If you got a chance to meet her you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you did not I am so sorry you did not get a chance to meet this beautiful heart. Right now the world feels a little emptier but the memories are so filling.
The flashbacks, the laughs, the caring, the trips are all playing through the vhs that is my head. Sometimes a little fuzzy, sometimes there are missing segments but the whir of the tape is soothing. It comforts it relaxes and it’s like having her still here with me. A pat on the head a touch of the hand a wake up in the morning. A call to breakfast an ask to go to the store so the cat can have food. An offer to buy what ever I want just for a smile in payment.
Hold your loved ones closer, tell them what you need to tell them and just appreciate them. Those little moments that feel annoying now are going to be the ones you hold dear later. Those memory’s you take for granted now will be the ones you cherish.
Godspeed mom may the journey ahead be as bright as the Christmas lights. For you will always be with me on my own heroes journey.
