When summer hits, and school is out, most parents are left wondering how they'll keep their kids entertained. While the internet has a lot to offer in terms of things to do, this can result in your kids gluing themselves to screens for longer than you'd like. If you'd like to get your children outside, but know the heat will be a problem, you have options. There are many activities, including these listed below, that can keep them cool and away from televisions and computers:

1. Go to an indoor trampoline park.

Indoor trampoline parks are excellent spots for kids of all ages, including toddlers. Within these air-conditioned facilities, you'll find endless areas equipped with padded trampolines that are not only safe, but fun. In addition to this, most parks have foam pits that kids can jump into for added fun and exercise. Young kids and teens will be able to bounce for hours before they run out of energy, so it's a great option for the summer months.

Tip: Look for summer discount packages at your local indoor trampoline park. These types of deals can lower the individual price for each visit to help make it more affordable.

2. Host a water balloon fight.

There's no better way to cool off than by having a water balloon fight. Whether you host this with only the family, or with the neighbors and friends, you're guaranteed to have a great time. If you want to add even more fun in between throwing balloons, you can bring in water guns. You can never have too many water balloons, so buy more than you need, and fill as many as you can before you get started. Whether your kids are toddlers or they're teens in high school, this is an activity for which they will gladly pull themselves away from the television.

3. Go swimming.

Inground swimming pools in Maryland have become increasingly popular, because they're great investments for families with kids. Not only do these offer an easy way to beat the heat, but they also offer a lot of fun! Even a small pool can provide endless hours of entertainment for kids, and parents alike, even when temperatures are soaring. If you've been considering a pool for your yard, it's worthwhile for all that it has to offer. During the summer, you'll likely feel it's one of the best investments you've ever made.

4. Use your garden hose.

Your garden hose is an excellent tool for the hot summer months, so make sure you use it. Fortunately, it's not difficult to find ways to turn it into something fun. The easiest option is to attach a sprinkler head, and simply let the kids run under it as you hold it in place. However, if you're okay with spending some cash, you can find toys that attach to the sprinkler to provide hours of fun that offer a break from the heat. Even sprinkler rings make for great toys while helping to water your grass.

5. DIY Ground Water Slide

If you're in a pinch, and want a way for your kids to slide around in the water outside, all you have to do is grab your trash bags. Simply roll several of them out, bind them together with duct tape, and lie them down on the grass. After that, all you have to do is pour some dish soap on the top before letting the water stream down. Kids of all ages are guaranteed to have a blast sliding down the bags, even if it's blistering hot outside. What's even better is that this can be done for cheap as long as you have a few basic supplies.

Beating the Heat and Having Fun

Your kids don't have to spend their summers stuck inside, just because it's hot outdoors. By using a little bit of creativity, and planning in advance, you can easily find fun things for them to do to stay cool. You might be surprised at how much fun you have, too!
