Drug addiction

Real story

I personally know a person who was addicted to drugs for years. It is a really interesting and at the same time sad story that has many twists and turns. We live in a world in which dangers lurk at every corner and it is up to us not to succumb to these dangers. It was my friend who succumbed to such a danger and became a drug addict.

Do you think you are a decent family and this could never happen to anyone in your family? That's exactly what I thought too. A person does not realize some things to such a depth until he experiences them on his own skin or sees them with his own eyes.

When my close friend Ema succumbed to this drug madness, she was only 16 years old. Many of you may ask yourself why parents let their child succumb to drug addiction? However, it is not as easy as it might seem at first glance. Of course, a person who starts using drugs will not go and brag about it to his parents and will do everything so that his parents don't find out. However, when her parents' money, jewelry and even diesel started disappearing from the car, they joked that something was wrong.

Ema was a beautiful blue-eyed brown-haired girl, she was always smiling and had many friends. However, these friends of hers were mostly already punished for something, or they had already sat in the base before. It is obvious that they could not be an asset in her life, but then 16-year-old Ema saw it completely differently. She understood them, laughed with them, felt that they understood her and simply did not deal with their past. She moved in a bad circle of people who offered her drugs and she couldn't resist this offer. She said to herself: "I'll just try once, nothing can happen to me once I take marijuana." But after a while, marijuana wasn't enough for her and she switched to hard drugs.

Her hair fell out, she lost an incredible 15 kilograms, which was noticeable at her normal weight of 50 kilograms. She was pale and looked like a living corpse. Her teeth were destroyed. The smiling Emma turned into someone who was ashamed of her smile. Even after talking to her for 2 minutes, I noticed that she can't organize her thoughts coherently and that the drugs have damaged her expressive and thinking skills.

When her parents found out that Ema was using drugs, she was almost 20 years old. She was able to hide her addiction for 4 years.

Parents immediately took action. They talked to many drug addicts - who recovered from this addiction - and they told them that the only thing that helped them in the fight against addiction was when they hit rock bottom. So they decided that they would only help their daughter if she herself fell to the bottom. The parents, albeit with a heavy heart, kicked Ema out of the house. They hoped that she would soon realize what a mistake she had made in her life and that she couldn't make it without her family. However, the opposite was true. She started living with a drug dealer who was her friend. Her parents stopped keeping contact with her. The father resented her completely, he no longer considered her his daughter, he did not want to see her in his life. She was a huge disappointment for him, while his mother, despite hundreds of crying evenings, still hoped that she would find her way home from the bad sidewalks.

She had been living with her drug-addicted boyfriend for two years when one day she called her mom and said, "Mom, I'm pregnant." It was clear to his parents that he would need their help, but they feared the worst. What if the baby has drugs in its body after birth and is moved to a home?

When Ema found out she was pregnant, she stopped using drugs overnight. After ten years of intensive drug use, the little being that grew inside her was able to convince her that there is a different way to live. Ema was "clean" throughout her pregnancy, her beautiful healthy daughter was born, which was truly a miracle. You might think that she has changed, but she hasn't. A month after giving birth, Ema couldn't resist again, moved in with a friend and was in that vicious circle again. One day in the early evening, she and her boyfriend were stopped by a police drug raid. Eme's life turned upside down. He and his friend were handcuffed by the hoodlums and taken to the police station, where they were interrogated for several hours and faced several trials. The verdict? 5 years in prison. Can you imagine how it must feel to not see your child for 5 years? When you come back from prison and your child won't even recognize you? These feelings haunted her until the day when the puppeteers did not come to her home and she began a 5-year sentence.

Perhaps the prison and the time spent without her beautiful, healthy daughter will force her to think about herself and her life so far. She is currently serving the third year of her sentence in prison, she has completely resented her ex-partner, she resents him and regrets all her actions. Her parents took their little daughter into foster care. They send her photos of her daughter growing up in prison, they call each other every day, albeit briefly, but Ema is grateful for that too. It is clear from her phone calls that she regrets everything and wants nothing more than to see her daughter grow up.
