Disguised Curse of the Little Black Book

Deep in the heart of central Texas was a legend passed down from generations to generations. This is no ordinary legend. For you see, the chain of custody was about to be broken between generations that unleashed an unsuspecting and disguised curse upon unbelieving and selfish family members. Several family members laughed about the legend and decided they would share their family legend with others in the local community. The town elder, a woman by the name Knownaw, which means mother of knowing the truth, warned the family if they revealed the legend to outsiders of the family, a curse will be set in motion and the family potentially will lose its legacy.

Knownaw explained to the family that Garwood had been the true keeper of the Legend of the Little Black Book. She knew this because she saw the book once in her lifetime in his possession. This is not your average little black book. This little black book holds a secret to unleash supernatural powers to bless those who protect its secrets at all costs. Many of the family members thought that Knownaw was old and senile. They did not believe a word she said about the legend. Everyone knew that Garwood was well-known for his community work and humility. Unsuspectingly spreading the legend Garwood’s family activated the disguised curse of the little black book. So, Garwood intentionally left a secret Will of Testament to be revealed to his rightful heir to his secret fortune at a specific date and time in the future.

Knownaw warned once more that the legend was true, and the little black book would soon pick its keeper. The family thought the little black did not exist because they searched Garwood’s property inside and out and went through all his belongings trying find and unlock the secrets of the little black book’s supernatural power. The book could not be found among any of the books in the home. Unbelieving and greedy for the property the family had an estate sale. What they did not know was when they sold Garwood’s belongings, they unsuspectingly set-in motion the disguised curse of the little black book family’s misfortunate. You see, for Garwood did not treasure his earthly things for he was the true keeper of the supernatural powers of the little black book.

A young African American woman named Shanoah was a single mother looking to make some extra income to support her children, son Noah 5 and daughter Chenoah 10 years of age. Shanoah and her kids lived in the basement of her childhood home with her parents. One weekend she felt compelled to stop by this estate sale she saw not too far from her home. She stopped at the estate sale at Garwood’s home and brought several boxes of old books to restore and sell for extra income. She thought this was a cheap way to get things to sell so she stopped at another estate and garage sale in her area. About a month after, she finally had some time to go through the things she purchased from the estate and garage sales. Shanoah’s children helped her go through the books and items to decided which ones were in good enough condition to sell right away and others which needed some tender loving care. The last book in a box was tattered and the cover was faded, but Shanoah sensed she had some sort of connection with this book.

The book had no named and no identifying marks on it. She sat the book on the table. She was carefully looking at the cover and realized that she was looking at a false book cover. Suddenly she felt a strong presence in the room and turned quickly and no one was there. The children were still sitting on the floor going through books. Out of nowhere a gentle voice was heard saying open the book. As she opened the book, she noticed there was something off about the book as one side felt heavier than the other. What this could mean, she thought to herself. Well, she restores books in her spare time, so she decided to cut the binder to reveal why one side was heavier. She slowly and carefully slides the knife down the binder edge. Her children jump up and ask mom what you are doing? She tells them to be quiet for a moment. She opens the binder, and hidden inside, is a little black book.

At that very moment, Shanoah felt an overwhelming sense of emotions. The kids ask, Mom are you okay, what is wrong, what is that book, but Shanoah did not know what to say because of the strong emotions flowing through her mind and body. She did not know that very moment she discovered that little black book her life was about to be tested.

Several weeks later, Shanoah was home alone and children were out with her parents shopping. She takes out the little black book and opens it. As she opens the book, a strong presence came into the room with her. She calls out to her children and parents with no answer. As she starts to read the pages, she realizes this book has a secret. She was so intrigued and overwhelmed she nervously began to flip through the pages. The book seemed to come to life with every word she read. She was drawn into the book deeper and deeper. The little black book tells the history of the legend and its keepers and their responsibilities. She was so excited, she grabbed her cell phone to call her parents to let them know about the little black book, but she is compelled, instead, to hang up. Then she felt a gentle hand of her shoulder as if someone were acknowledging her.

Skipping through, she noticed several pages were left blank in the book. She was puzzled at first, when she discovered an imbedded key. The book instructs her to go to an airport locker and retrieve a small bag from locker 1313. Warning one, do not open at the airport. Find a secure place with no one around and read the letter inside. Warning two, you must do exactly what is told of you or you will be cursed. Warning three, tell no one. Shanoah is overwhelmed once more, but curious at the same time.

She grabs the little black book, her cell phone, purse, and car keys and runs out the house. She gets in her car and rushes to the airport. She is nervous and becomes scared once she pulls into the parking garage at the airport. She tells herself this is stupid, what am I doing here following some mysterious book? She was about to pull out when she sensed that same strong presence she felt since she discovered the little black book. She takes a deep breath and says I came this far I must follow through. She goes into the baggage area and looks around to ensure no one is following or watching her. At the lockers, she pretends to put a bag into a locker next to locker 1313. She quickly switches over to locker 1313 grabs the small black bag and placed it in her oversized purse. She walks back to her car trying not to draw attention to herself. She gets in the car, leaves the airport, and drives to a remote area with no one around. She opens the black bag and sees thousands of dollars and starts screaming. I cannot believe this with such joy and fear all at the same time. She starts shaking as she gets the letter and reads it. The letter states you must give this $20,000 away or you will be forever cursed. You must not keep any of this money. Every dollar must be given away. Now here Shanoah is in a situation where she lives in the basement of her family home with her two children, barely making ends meet, and she comes across a little black book that leads her to $20,000. Now she must give it all away. Shanoah was like hell no, I got bills to pay, children to feed, and this is enough money for our own place. She goes back home and does not mention anything to her children or parents of what just happened that day.

For two weeks she pondered and prayed on what to do with the money. She thought to herself maybe the curse is a fake and someone is waiting to bust me. She was about to leave when something in the newspaper caught her eye. It was an article about a family’s little black book being a local legend and the family did not believe in it because they never saw any proof of it being real. This made her change her mind. She went out that day and decided to be a channel of blessing to others. She found random people over the course of a month and blessed them by paying for their rent, groceries, bills, and car payments. She also brought some homeless people new clothing, tents, and paid for a weekly hotel for a month for 10 homeless women to get off the street and be safe for a while. Afterwards Shanoah was feeling good about being a blessing unto others. She did everything in secret and no one knew about the little black book. She knew the money was to be used on others. Her selfless act of kindness and generosity unknowingly solidified her true character.

Twenty days later at night, as her children lie asleep in the room with her; she felt a strong presence enter her room as she was reading a book. This time the strong presence had made itself known. It was an older African American man standing at the foot of Shanoah’s bed. At no time did she feel frightened by this sight. She felt as if she already knew this unknown soul. He pointed to the little black book. She picked the little black book up and opened it. The pages began to glow under the dim light. She quickly got up and got a black light her son had and scanned the pages to reveal secret messages written in invisible ink on the last 20 pages of the little black book. The pages revealed Shanoah was the sole granddaughter of Garwood who was her grandfather. Shanoah’s father passed away before she was born, and she was given up for adoption by her mother. She was adopted as a baby by her current parents and Garwood had searched for years for her. Shanoah never knew her real family. At that moment she broke down in tears of joy knowing that Garwood was watching over her.

The next day a knock at the door came and it was a probate attorney and he stated he had a Will of Testament to read to Shanoah. She was confused. Turns out Garwood found and always kept up with Shanoah and the family who took her in. Garwood’s family did not know that his son Aaron had a daughter born two months after his premature death at the age of 25. Garwood left Shanoah a 20 million dollars trust fund he setup in her name before he left this world. Shanoah was so overjoyed and blessed. It makes sense now that the disguised curse of the little black book was a test of the soul. If Shanoah was selfish, then a curse was upon her and by showing humility she brought about blessings beyond measures. The family connection to Garwood forever secured the family wealth to be preserved throughout future generations because the little black book always provides. Shanoah knew at that moment in time it was her destiny as the new True Keeper of the Little Black Book.
