From My Family To Yours!

As a mother, but also a single mother I know first hand what I would most appreciate for Christmas. Of course the obvious can be stated; we all want sleep and as much caffeine as possible. Maybe a bottle of wine or 2 to keep us going, but there are some ideas that may be overlooked when it comes to gift giving.

Here are some ideas perfect for single moms who’s plate is more than full. Whether it’s your friend, sister, cousin, aunt, or just a single mom you know lives down the road these ideas will be sure to get lots of appreciation and maybe a few happy tears.

Gift certificate for a cleaning service

Kids are messy. Life is messy. Sometimes we are just a mess. Cleaning is the last thing anyone wants to do after a long week of kid raising, working and having a life. Not to mention when kids are sick, mom is sick, sometimes cleaning just gets put on the back burner and catching up can be just as frustrating. Whether she is a working mom, or a stay at home mom a little help in the cleaning department will be greatly appreciated.

Travelling mug

This is for tea or coffee drinking moms, the ones who likely make a cup in the morning and have to reheat it a thousand times during the day before sitting and enjoying it at 3pm. Get her a travelling mug, well insulated and keeps her drink hot for several hours. One that’s personalized will be sure to be the perfect touch “this could be coffee, but it’s most likely wine” or “ #1 Snack Dealer”. Humour it up a little bit, or make it sweet to match her personality. She can use this right off the bat every morning because it’s perfect whether she’s travelling that day or not; the perfect take and go option in a hurry.

Gift certificate for a spa

Whether she is into getting her nails done or not. I guarantee you every mom alive will never turn down a massage or foot treatment, maybe a facial (literally whatever she prefers). Get a gift certificate to a local spa in her town, check out the price list and narrow it down to cover 1 or 2 services of her choice. Moms often do not practice a whole lot of self care, especially us moms with little babes; we tend to put every ounce of energy into the kids because let’s face it, momming is exhausting. *Keep in mind her day out may require a babysitter if kids are not in school or daycare*

Wine basket

This is a great gift idea for pretty much anyone, but us single moms know that the first sip of wine when the kids go to bed is like liquid gold. All of our worries just get washed away with that first sip and the rest is pure glory. Back to the point, throw in a bottle of her favourite wine, or be adventurous and get something new for her to try. Put some bath items in there as well, bath bombs, body oil, bath pillow even a new wine glass (personalized if you will), and maybe some chocolates. Perfect for an at home evening self care night.

Something sentimental

I know, super vague and not very detailed. Well this idea can be as simple as framing a photo of mom with the kids or something along those lines. Maybe a mama bear keychain or sweater. Or you can take this one a step further and get a photo shoot session prepaid for so mom can get some professional photos done with her kids. Its very rare for mom to be in photos with her kids and this would mean the world to a single mom who hasn't thought of the idea herself or maybe can’t afford to splurge on it. Either route you take with this one will not disappoint.

There you have it, 5 gift ideas for that single mom in your life. As much as she loves her children it’s always nice to be reminded we are human at times. Happy gift hunting ➵
