A Pregnancy Journey

It Started with a Joyful Miracle

It all started with a simple phone call. My partner, Eric and I had been trying to start a family for the past year, and were sitting on the edge of our seats in anticipation for the results of my latest pregnancy test. As I nervously placed the call to my doctor's office, I was more than a little anxious to hear the news. When I was finally connected to the right person, I heard the most beautiful words I ever could have imagined: "Congratulations! You're pregnant!"

Instantly, my heart soared with joy. I couldn't believe it. After so much time and effort, it had actually happened. We had done it. We were going to have a baby.

The first few months of my pregnancy were mostly a flurry of emotions. From bursting with joy at the thought of becoming a mother to the inevitable worry that something bad could happen to our unborn child, I felt all the entire spectrum of what it means to expect a bundle of joy.

During my first few doctor’s appointments, we were able to get some confirmation that all was healthy with my pregnancy. Though I still had to be extra careful with exercising and make sure to attend appointments regularly, things were starting to feel more real.

We soon began to plan for our new arrival. We took an entire weekend to plan out the nursery, picking out furniture and decorations. Eric was so excited about welcoming the baby into our home, and it was heartwarming to see him get so involved. We spent the whole weekend chatting about the future, eagerly awaiting what was to come.

As time went on, the bumps and aches of pregnancy began to kick in. I was starting to show, and I had to slow down with my yoga practice and get into a more relaxed routine. I was tired more often, and I had to take more breaks during the day. My partner was supportive throughout and was constantly bringing me tea and snacks, reminding me to stay hydrated, and just being there for me when I needed an extra shoulder to lean on.

At our 20-week appointment, we found out the gender of our baby. We were so excited to find out that we were having a baby girl, and named her Emma. Knowing the gender of the baby made the pregnancy even more special, and it was so exciting to start planning for her.

With two months left to go, I started to look into different birthing options. We decided to give natural childbirth a try and booked a birth swimming class for the 2nd trimester, something recommended by the midwife. Before long, we were in the thick of our birthing classes and felt more prepared for the crazy journey ahead.

Finally, the big day came. It was the longest and most beautiful night of our lives as we welcomed Emma into the world. After a long process of contractions, pushing, and recovery, Emma arrived - healthy and full of love.

That moment was the most beautiful thing Eric and I have ever shared. We were filled with so much joy and pride, and watching our precious little girl babbling and smiling was a miracle all in itself.

Now, as we approach Emma’s first birthday, I can’t help but look back fondly at the incredible journey that got us to this point. Going through pregnancy truly is a miracle, and I feel so incredibly humbled and grateful for this incredible journey.

In conclusion, the journey of pregnancy is a miracle in itself. From the initial phone call to the doctor's office to the moment of welcoming a new life into the world, it is a journey filled with joy, worry, and anticipation. Eric and I are so grateful for the experience of bringing our daughter, Emma, into the world and look forward to watching her grow and thrive.
