My Passion, My Heart

What I would do.

Acrylic on Canvas: "Mind Blown"

Imagine for a minute, floating weightlessly in the water, completely at peace within yourself. Now picture being able to feel that way anytime you want. Well, I am here to tell you that you can! Let me start by telling you about myself, my past, and what makes me so passionate about helping people heal through art. I have bipolar disorder. I have known this since I was about fourteen years old. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 20 years old and had attempted suicide. Bipolar disorder, is characterized for me, as having rapidly cycling, extreme moods. One minute I am on top of the world and trying to do a million tasks at one time. The next I can be so low, that I don't want to live anymore. It wasn't until I woke up from my self-induced coma, that I decided that I wanted to live better. I realized that I needed to heal. I needed to find a way to ride the waves of these different emotions. The best way through a strong emotion is to sit with it. Medications help, sure, but what helps so much more is to throw myself into creating something that expresses everything I am feeling. Whether it be through photography, or painting, even poetry. I once built a huge ship out of popsicle sticks for not other reason but because it felt right. I have always had a passion for the artistic side of life. I started writing and creating to explore myself on a deeper level. It worked. Art helped me to see into the mirror of my soul. That is where I found a reason to live. That is what I want to give to other people. I want to help people to love themselves throughout their journey on this earth. I want to give them the peace I have found for myself because so many people are searching for it in this life, but sadly they are lost. People are more interested in numbing themselves with drugs and alcohol, or zoning out on social media. I want to move past Xanax and likes on Instagram. I want to help people to really dig deeply and get better.

Let us now get more in-depth about what I want to do for people. Included in a membership, I would have two, 3 hour classes per week. Each class would go over a different form of art, while also getting into different ways to help people heal emotionally. I would love to delve into peoples' psyche. Figure out what hurts them deep down, and gives them a stable support system to build a happier future. Some of the types of art I would go over are things such as; photography, painting, poetry, and other crafts. During the classes I would explore with the membership base, the things that they feel. I would love to help people to feel through their art. So often these days, the response to art is that people think they are not good enough or not creative. It's all a frame of mind though. There are so many forms of artistic expression to explore, but because of this instilled fear of failure and judgement, people no longer are free to do something to heal themselves. We have an innate ability to create such beautiful things from nothing but the way we feel. I just want to be someone that can help people to tap into that and into themselves. I believe this is my way of making the world a better, more beautiful place, with happier people. Do what you love everyday and you will never work a day in your life. Isn't that the truth, right? I just want a chance to do that.
