Honey is good for your skin because it's packed with powerful components that speed healing and reduce inflammation. It has been a respected ingredient for wound healing and killing of bacteria. With its healing properties and the ability to soften, brighten, nourish, and clarify the skin, there's a place for honey in any skincare regimen.

BENEFITS OF HONEY TO THE SKIN

1. HONEY DEEPLY MOISTURIZES AND HYDRATES THE SKIN: Honey's natural humectant(retaining or preserving) properties make it an effective moisturizer. The enzyme activity in honey enables it to penetrate deeply into the skin and hydrates the underlying layers. This results in softer skin with a natural radiant glow.

2. HONEY IS AN EFFECTIVE PORE CLEANSER AND GENTLE EXFOLIATOR. If you are looking for a non harsh exfoliator, honey is the best. Honey is naturally antibacterial and exfoliating. These properties make it an effective natural pore cleanser for removing deep-down dirt and debris that may clog the pores and contribute to skin issues.

3. HONEY REDUCES THE SIGNS OF PREMATURE AGING. Honey draws moisture from the air and binds it to the skin. This added hydration gives the skin a fresh youthful glow and suppleness, making fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. Honey also contains natural antioxidants that fight free radicals, one of the leading causes of premature aging.

4. RELIEVES SUNBURN: Honey is commonly used in medical settings for the treatment of burns due to its ability to promote the healing of damaged tissues and reduce inflammation. Honey can be used at home for healing and relieving of sunburn.

HOW TO USE HONEY FOR SKIN

1.HONEY AS FACE CLEANSER AND EXFOLIATOR

Honey can be used as a gentle facial cleanser and natural exfoliator on its own. You can also add a few drops to your normal facial wash. Or, combine it with equal parts of baking soda to make a gentle and effective face scrub.

2.MOISTURIZING HONEY MASK

Body and face masks made from honey add moisture and soothe redness. Apply honey directly to clean skin and massage it gently. Allow it to sit for about 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water.

3.HONEY MAKEUP REMOVER

Honey can be combined with coconut oil, jojoba oil, or olive oil to use as a gentle makeup remover. Combine the two ingredients until they are easily spreadable and massage them into your skin to loosen makeup and deep-down dirt. Rinse with warm water.

4.HONEY BODY SCRUB

Honey can be combined with sugar or sea salt to make a skin-softening body scrub for rough areas on the feet, knees, and elbows. Combine equal parts of each ingredient to form a paste and rub it into the skin in agentle, circular motion. Rinse in the shower.

5.HONEY BATH SOAK

Adding raw honey to your bath moisturizes and cleanses the skin at the same time. Add ¼ cup of honey to a warm bath, relax and soak for as long as desired.

HEALTH BENEFITS OF HONEY

Certain varieties of honey have been shown to offer promising healing powers. When applying these characteristics to everyday life, it's essential to balance honey's purported health benefits with the nutritional cost (high sugar content).

Also, it is important to remember that honey is often consumed in small quantities that may not be equivalent to amounts used in studies to investigate potential benefits.

1.MAY SOOTHE A COUGH

Research suggests honey may help calm a cough. A review of six studies treating coughs in children found that a spoonful of honey suppresses a cough as well as dextromethorphan—the cough suppressant found in Robitussin DM—and better than Benadryl (diphenhydramine) or no treatment. The research also found honey may provide longer relief than Albuterol (salbutamol).

2.MAY PROMOTE REGULARITY

Studies have suggested that honey might have a positive impact on the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Researchers theorize that phytochemicals and flavonoids may help aid digestive processes in the body.

3.MAY SUPPORT REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH

A type of honey called royal jelly, has numerous effects on female reproductive health.Royal jelly has been found to reduce premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and menopausal symptoms.

The antioxidants in royal jelly may help reduce oxidative damage associated with the aging of the ovaries. Preliminary animal studies also suggest that royal jelly improves sperm quality for men. Although promising, this effect has yet to be proven in humans.

4.MAY REDUCE CANCER RISK

Honey may impact the development of cancer during multiple stages of the progression of the disease.Honey has been shown to induce tumor cell apoptosis (cell death), reduce inflammation, and inhibit tumor growth in in-vitro (test tube) studies.
