WE ARE HUMAN REGARDLESS OF COLOUR, GENDER

PAST

CHASING FREEDOM

It is a privilege to write this article for I HAVE A DREAM Association during the NEGRO HISTORY WEEK created by the Carter G.Woodson in the second week of February 1926 to ensure that schoolchildren would be exposed to BLACK HISTORY. The date was on purpose assigned the birthday of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass. Abraham Lincoln abolished slavery for African-Americans by including amendment fourteen in the American Constitution 1865. It granted equal civil and legal rights to black society in addition to citizenship to people born and naturalised in the USA including the slaves. He was assassinated in 1865 and the 14th amendment became law by the senate in 1868. Frederick Douglass was also a leader for the African-Americans who supported Women Rights, especially in the New York region. Freedom brought by the amendments of the constitution to the black society was a change order on paper but not in real life. Society still had discriminations, segregations and injustice. Their work was followed by Carter.G.Woodson who had been an example to the black people to follow. He was named as 'Father of the Black History'. Education was important for him. Being the second African-American who earned the doctorate from Harvard he tried his best to reform society by introducing the importance of education to the young generation of African-Americans. to learn the history of their past. But changes in society was very slow. Martin Luther King Jnr., painted that picture in his " I HAVE A DREAM SPEECH "in 1963. He was shot dead in 1968. He wished one-day equalities among the people of different races could live together in a peaceful country. In time his speech made a progress in society and became a historical record.

Today there are many black famous people following their ancestor's steps. They are the rock of their society. Musicians, Singers, Actors, Writers, Orators, Publishers, Media stars, Sportsmen/Women are the few sections of their achievements. More recent political appointments of the present Vice-President and the previous President of the USA Barrack Obama are historical advancements on the race issue in the USA. This is proof of the educated and financially successful section of the black social life is blended within the white world very well while the working class with lower education with lower income still treated 19th-century rules in suburbs. Today, White Supremacy continues in almost every state in the USA and the rest of the western world. Segregation, discrimination, hate of race, gender, sexism are unfortunately still out there and alive. Racial equality work done by the old black generation progressed the society but it is not a completed job. Once the present society get rid of differences of social classes, provides equal civil rights to its citizens, governors solve the social issues for the rights of coloured, gender people problems of today may be lessened in due course. Hence, the importance of education in social science for young children becomes a more important issue for future generations.

PRESENT

SEEKING JUSTICE

The recent incident of George Floyd was a human tragedy and happened in front of people's eyes all over the world thanks to the present technology. We witnessed something that hopefully may not happen again. There is always a reason things happen in this event movement of " BLACK LIVES MATTER" was born. It was an act of anger not only in Georgia, the USA but also in other countries by the multicolour communities. Support among the all different colour races in the world was amazing. This was a parallel action to the " ME TO " gender (female) movement in the USA. The silence of people ( who suffered bad life experiences regardless of their colour, gender, class) was broken and their voices could be heard by the whole world. They called it the rectification of history. In my view, history can not be rectified but it is there for us to learn lessons from it for the bright future. It is a well known saying ' History Repeat Itself''. It means past bad experiences should help us to deal with the future. That is the educating of people showing them the way it can be used for positive purposes.

Related to my article I chose the picture of " RACIAL PROFILING" on purpose to refresh my reader's mind about the creation of humans. We were already segregated since the evolution of our planet. People were different in separate geographical locations not only by their colours but also by their physics. They had different cultures, traditions, languages and religions. East Asia was Yellow, Mid Asia Brown, Europe White, Africa Black, South/North America Red. We were separate races unique to our location. Question of WHY we are different shape and colour? never answered by science. It was an accepted fact of life. Discovery and exploration of the world by the western countries, explorers opened a new chapter in human relations. When West met East/South explorers discovered different races on this earth. Colonial power of the West mainly European countries introduced the third parameter to these societies MONEY and CAPITAL. New states were underdeveloped but had valuable assets such as herbs, silk, cotton, gold etc., capitalism moved in with the new way of money-making adventures that needed manpower. Governing bodies of the colonial powers(mainly monarchs) legalized human trafficking. SLAVERY was born as it was a trade on its own. It made many people very rich. At the same time, today's racial problems were born. Present time radicalisation of the social structures, the liberation of the minors by the governors, could not wipe out the stains of the past history.

Immigration from Europe to the new land of North America made new mixed white race settlements. It introduced many different cultures, religions, traditions to its people. Their motto was 'Land of Opportunity' everybody was welcomed in New York with its LIBERTY status. Unfortunately, that did not apply to every new immigrant. They (individual clans) created ghettos to support each other. Italian. Irish, Jewish, Chinese, PortoRican, African-Americans etc., established their own areas in the inner states to preserve their motherland habits. Public segregation automatically happened as each group kept their own life differently from others. Although they learn English at school most of them spoke their mother languages at home. The amalgamation of the races, genders could not happen. It is today's social problem. Only one place developed human interactions with one language and friendship among these races were the colleges, schools and universities. . They provided young generations to involve and connect with each other while subjects such as history, geography, politics, sociology, science, economics, law were taught to improve their lives. I HAVE A DREAM association's work for educating the under privilege communities by giving them support to improve their education is the big hope in future and an example to other institutions to use that leverage to improve human relations. People now are able to chase Justice.

FUTURE

DREAMING DREAMS

What is my dream? THE WORLD SHOULD BE A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE. It sounds simple request to live in a world society without PREJUDICE. JUDGEMENT who RESPECT and LOVE each other with FREEDOM to express themselves to air beliefs. We need to have a classless society without an " I KNOW BETTER" attitude. Problems of RACISM, SEX and GENDER over centuries had been a problem of everyday life with different degrees of banning laws. customs, traditions, religions, rules and regulations limit and forbid these issues. The overall picture of WHITE SUPREMACY, MEN SUPERIORITY and GENDER DISCRIMINATION will not disappear overnight. What is acceptable in the Western/ Northern world different from the Eastern/Southern part of the globe and vice versa.

WHITE SUPREMACY is still active all over the globe, 19th-century laws implementation of International Human rights did not make any impact on societies to improve their racial standards. People are still killed because of their colour and gender. The day, we realise one's skin colour is not important as our lives, the motto " HUMAN LIFE MATTERS" becomes the slogan. Black, yellow, white, red whatever skin colour is, the patient in the hospital when treated and had a blood transfusion to save his/her life, the colour of blood is not an issue anymore, Red for everybody. When the LIFE of a person is CHEAPER than its SKIN COLOUR in any society we are no different than other wild animals in the world. Hurting mankind never solved any problem.

This is a kind of journey transformation of the mentalities will take time. Being a generation of BOB MARLEY, JOHN LENNON their songs of ONE LOVE, ONE NATION and IMAGINING people living and sharing the world together, were their messages to the brotherhood of humankind. Songs were written to correct the wrongdoings in the human race. It looked impossible dream but the FLOWER POWER was the inspiration to me and future generations.

The day slogans of " BLACK LIFE MATTERS" "ME TO "and "LBGT" signs disappear to protect the race and gender discrimination the PEACE will be with us. DREAMs of great people will always live whether it's happened or not. One day DREAMS WILL BECOME TRUE. Time is not relevant just the patience needed to make it happen. The Twenty-first century, vision to make our dreams become reality is to keep educating people for the future.
