7,326 and counting

The Death Toll in Gaza (as of Oct 27)

This is a brief, though unorganized, overview of what has happened since October 7th, specifically focusing on the death toll in Gaza. I would like you to keep in mind that 47.3% of Palestine's population are children, and that the majority of the casualties are women and children.

Here are the flat numbers:

October 21 (2 weeks) - 3,785 killed, 12,493 injured.

October 24 - 5,691 killed, 16,297 injured.

October 25 - 6,546 killed.

October 26 - 7,028 killed.

October 27 (3 weeks) - 7,326 killed, 18,000+ injured.

Let's dive a bit deeper into that.

On October 7th, the media started talking about the Israel-Palestine conflict. After 75 years of tension and 'war', Hamas made an attack on Israel, and Israel has been viciously bombing Palestine since.

October 7th marked Hamas' attack on Israel and the "start of the war."

Within a few days, over a thousand Palestinians were murdered. Gaza ran out of fuel, and Israel cut off their water supply, followed by their medicine and electricity.

By October 13th, Israel had dropped six hundred bombs on Gaza within six days.

The one week mark has been reached.

On October 17th, Israel bombed the al-Ahli hospital in Gaza, killing over 500 people. Hospitals are off-limits in war, according to the Geneva Convention and International Law.

On October 18th, Israel allowed 20 trucks (bringing humanitarian aid) into Gaza from Egypt.

By October 21st, 3,785 Palestinians had been killed, and an additional 12,493 injured.

The two week mark has been reached.

By October 23rd, the death toll passed 5,000.

By October 24th, 5,791 Palestinians had been killed, including 2,360 children, with over 16,297 injured. 12 hospitals and 46 primary care clinics had shut down.

By October 25th, 6,546 Palestinians had been killed.

By October 26th, 7,028 Palestinians had been killed, including 2,913 children.

By October 27th, 7,326 Palestinians had been killed, with more than 18,000 injured.

On October 27th, Israel cut off all of Gaza's communication with the outside world. They cannot communicate with family outside of Gaza, and journalists are no longer reachable.

We have now reached three weeks.

To put into perspective, the death toll in Gaza currently sits at 7,326 (as of October 27th). It was reported that the initial Hamas attack on Israel resulted in 1,400 Israeli deaths. That number has not changed since.

Over the past three weeks, Israel has committed unspeakable war crimes, has enforced a genocide, and has shown complete dominance over a smaller power.

By bombing a hospital, the UN should have stepped in immediately. There were reports of condemning Israel for this act, but no real efforts made. Israel has also killed journalists, another law broken.

Israel controls Gaza's borders, their resources, their medicine, and their ability to communicate with the outside world.

Israel has a military that is exponentially more powerful than Gaza. They have dropped approximately 12,000 tons of explosives on Gaza.

Israel would drop pamphlets to warn Gazans to evacuate before bombing certain areas. They told them to evacuate from the North to the South. They bombed them where they were anyway.

The media painted a picture in which Gaza was somehow more powerful than they are. There were talks about a "global jihad" (which I will write about in another post) suggesting that all Muslims would partake in violence in support of Palestine, but what it really meant was prayer and protest.

There was talk about Hamas soldiers beheading babies, which was debunked as a false accusation.

When Israel bombed the hospital, they claimed that Hamas had done it themselves.

There are reports from Israeli people who were held hostage by Hamas and freed, explaining that the Palestinian soldiers treated them with hospitality, not hostility. They gave them food, the same food they ate, and explained they would not hurt them.

Palestine captured hostages for the sake of trading them for their own people. They have no means of defense, they have no means of protecting themselves. This was Hamas' attempt to save Palestinian people.

It is surprising, and devastating, how this 'war' has carried. 7,326 Palestinians have died, and with the media now shut off, we will not be able to watch what Israel is doing.

When asked why they target high civilian areas, they say "Hamas was there" or that "Hamas is using civilians as human shields" and somehow this is justification? If your family was trapped in a shopping mall with a handful of shooters, and the government decided the solution was to bomb the entire shopping mall in order to kill the shooters, would you accept this as justification for your family's death?

If you are not talking, if you are remaining neutral, it is time to speak up. Seven thousand people in three weeks. At this rate, they will not last a year. Israel will not stop until they are eradicated.

If you have not been talking, if you have remained neutral, it is time to speak up.

From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.

Ya Allah, may You grant them strength.
