Pat Stay spoke words. What else would an esteemed battle rapper use? They were his fuel driving him to be sharp with the pen, the tongue, the mind. His way of displaying his prowess on the microphone permitted him to garner a loyal supporter base and even icons and legends like Eminem.

When he was murdered, the “Stan” rapper tweeted his appreciation of the fallen battler. Pat Stay’s aggressiveness and precision on the mic will be forever remembered.

That’s where the fight should have stayed. He shouldn’t have had to fight for his life.

Now, with the arrest of a suspect in his homicide, it is becoming a bit clearer as the crowds of people look forward to seeing the bottom of this vicious act.

Thirty-one-year-old Adam Drake allegedly stabbed to death the battle rapper. Real rappers know the difference between words and ill acts. The supposed killer had prior charges for a shooting incident of Tyler Keizer. Those charges were dropped.

Now, he’s back on the hook and could face serious time if convicted of Pat Stay’s murder.

What should be remembered in all of this is that free speech is the prime and defining idealism that separates the creators from the destroyers. The destroyers can take lives, but the creators and wordsmiths are the ones who carry the mantle of light for the mind.

Pat Stay had such an aggressive, contemplative and even flow that he had inspired and motivated legions. But since his involvement in the Game and Eminem diss situation, he was silenced out of evil and envy.

The obvious wickedness of murdering someone based on the good for being good is what is at the crux of this entire situation. The most penetrating, scathing, harsh words fly during battles. You can disrespect whole families, disregard an entire career, and dispense personal information. This does not grant license for one to start coercion against individuals.

So for these crimes to be eliminated, it’s important for people to recognize the snitching element. Pat Stay deserved having anyone else who knows the details of his untimely death to come forward. That shameful idealism against snitching ought to be turned on its head and made regular and familiar, not exotic.

If there is one thing that anyone who has knowledge of other persons besides Adam Drake, it is time for them to step forward.

For all of the ways that the hip hop genre disdains snitching, it is ironic because most of the members want to see justice or no peace. Why is it okay to seek justice for police officers killing mostly men of color and some whites like Pat Stay, why don’t these individuals recognize taking actual criminals off the streets?

Battle rappers often experience real contention and emotional exchanges on the mic. That’s where it ought to end. Some events have been disrupted due to violence spilling out on stage. Such altercations fly in the face of reason.

In this case, free speech stopped where the knife began. To live in a proper society, the Pat Stay that the battle rap world knew should be avenged by the law courts. With the power of the police, the late rhyme spitter should have justice attached to his name. He should be taken seriously in clips currently on the Internet. His death should be seen as a way to espouse the wonders of speaking the mind.

Once someone steps forward and realizes that words are expressions of the brain and that those words should include snitching. That’s when we might see the wave of respect for the most precious of rights.
