CHAPTER FOUR

“Listen bro I am fine, Revendil just send someone to attack me that’s it.”

“That’s it? You crashed a whole plane dummy and you say that’s it. I still can’t believe how you survived. You had to see the crash site man. The place was wiped out clean.”

Jason was on the road in a rented Toyota on his way to Uster, the last seen spot of Jane Revees. He was also able to get in touch with John via a new sim card. With John’s help, he handed Charlie over to a couple of cops sent by John.

“About the crash, um.... was it broadcasted?”

“Nah! Like I said the place is clean and we were able to compensate the farmer and remove the remains before it was too late, so it isn’t an issue, pal.”

“Thanks man. I owe you one.”

“Oh nooo! You owe me a lot, remember?”

*

Uster was a large town and is one of the largest in Switzerland. It was half past ten when he arrived and the sun was shining in all its glory. Soon Jason was under the camera that had spotted Jane. It was facing the road and was probably meant to be a speed camera. Homes and a café surrounded the street. Jason glanced at the picture and studied it carefully. As intimidating as it was, he noticed that she was carrying a Dixie cup on her right hand. He looked at the cafe, smiled and walked towards it.

The cafe was empty except for a couple of people who sat at the corners probably reading the morning newspaper. He walked up to the counter and the waitress said, “Sir, what can I get you?”

He was surprised to hear that she spoke English very fluently. He held out the photograph he asked, “Do you know this woman?”

The women taken aback, hesitated and then replied, “No sir.”

That was all he needed. The hesitation and slight twitch of her right eye told him she was lying. He brought his gun out from his pocket just enough for her to see it.

“I ask again and trust me I am not known for my patience. Do you know this woman?”

The women hesitated again and then replied, “Yes, she was a regular customer here for a couple of weeks.”

“Any idea where she lived?”

“Yes, on the next street there’s an old hotel, I think that’s where she lived.”

“Did she talk about where she’s from or where she’s going?” Jason knew it was a stupid question, there was no way a spy like her would let that out. However, he was willing to take the chance.

It took her a moment or two to respond, “No, though she seemed particularly interested in visiting Jungfraujoch.”

That caught Jason’s attention. He rode to the hotel where he found that what the women at the coffee shop said was true. However, Jason could never have found that she lived there if not for the photograph. It seemed that she disguised herself well stating her name to be Reny Pearson. He was given permission to search her room but came out empty handed. She didn’t leave the slightest clue to even suggest that anyone had lived there in days. Frustrated he questioned the hotel receptionist about her. It was tall young man, who spoke English fluently though with pinch of French accent. Then unexpectedly, he mentioned how she seemed particularly interested in getting to Mt. Jungfraujoch. Overjoyed in confirming what the women said, Jason thanked him and drove to the top of Europe.
