Jennifer Pan, the Girl Who Hired Someone To Kill Her Parents

Maybe you remember Jennifer Pan, and it’s the girl who hired a hitman to kill her father and mother in 2010. Jennifer was the daughter of a Vietnamese immigrant couple that moved to Canada.

She almost planned this murder perfectly. But the thing she didn’t expect and that ruined she planned that her father survived the attempt.

In this article, we’ll go back to 2010 to remind you or tell you the story of Jennifer Pan, who tried to kill both her parents.

The Early Life of Jennifer and her Education

In 1979 Bich Ha Pan and Huei Hann Pan moved from Vietnam as political refugees under the power of very communist China. It was a big relief that they moved to Canada, married in Toronto, and lived in Scarborough.

The couple had two children, Jennifer (1986) and Felix (1989). They both got a job at a car manufacturer in Ontario. They both worked really hard for years, and in 2004 they were able to buy their own house.

As usual in Asian countries, parents expect a lot of their children's education and career, so did Bich and Huei. She had piano lessons when she was only four years old. She also practiced Figure Skating that she practiced a lot. She hoped she would one day reach the Olympics, but due to an injury, she was unable.

Although her parents expected so much of her, Jennifer was an average student, but to not disappoint her parents, she falsified her grades to make them think she was an A-grader.

After high school, she made her parents think that she was accepted into Toronto University and later completing her degree there. She later faked that she had a voluntary job at a children’s hospital, but her parents found it suspicious that she didn’t have a Hospital ID or outfit.

Her father found out about this after following her to ‘work’ and wanted to throw her out of the house — but her mother asked him to stay. At the time, she had a boyfriend, Wong, but her parents had forbidden her to visit him.

When Jennifer was 24, Wong wanted to break up with her and started seeing other women. Then she claimed that some men had broken into her house and raped her on orders of the new girlfriend of Wong.

The Plan to Kill Jennifer’s Parents

Jennifer contacted someone called Andrew Montemayor, who, according to Jennifer, had bragged during their schooltime about robbing people, but this was denied by himself. He introduced Jennifer to Ricardo Duncan, who would have received money to kill her father, but he refused her offer and returned the money to her.

Jennifer and Wong had restored their contact, and according to the authorities, they both were planning to hire an assassin to kill her parents.

The idea behind this murder would be that she paid the hitman $10.000, and she would pay this from the inheritance that she would receive, which would be around $500.000.

Wong gave her the contact details of a man who would want to do the job. Wong contacted another man himself, called David Mylvaganam.

On the 8th of November 2010, in the Pans house, the murder would take place. She unlocked the door when she got to bed and then called Mylvaganam. After not a long time, a couple of men had entered the house, they all had guns, but besides Mylvaganam, the investigators could not identify the other two men.

When they entered the house, they demanded money from the family, and then they took the two to the basement, where they were shot multiply. Bich was instantly dead, but Hann was still alive.

Jennifer claimed that they had tied her up, but she could free herself and call the emergency number. Her father was taken to the hospital by aircraft, where he was treated carefully.

The Investigation, Trial and Imprisonment of Jennifer

After the murder, the police spoke to Jennifer Pan and were arrested on the 22nd of November of 2010. In her third police interview, she had admitted that she hired the hitmen to kill her parents.

The guys who investigated this case told her that they had software that would recognize people lying because this is allowed in Canadian police interviews — this is how she admitted the crime.

The trial began in 2014, and it took ten months to complete. All of the suspects denied being guilty at court, but there was enough evidence to assume they all were involved.

Her father also said that he didn't see his daughter being blindfolded or tied up. So that irregularity in her story made her not believable.

On December 13th, all the three suspects were convicted and got a life sentence for at least 25 years.
