Former Prison Psychologist: "Chris Watts Is Innocent! He Couldn't Have Done This!"

“It’s pretty interesting because my mom did stand up for Charles Manson and I’m standing up for Chris Watts," Christa Richello stated in an interview.

Richello is currently engaged to Watt's prison mate Dylan Tallman. The three are currently writing a book together about the convicted killer's "innocence."

Richello went on to explain that Watts could have no way killed his family due to his religion and spirituality. Watts still recieves a ton of fan mail. She states that as a former prison psychologist, she has never seen a case handled so badly. She was puzzled how he took a plea agreement so quickly when the case wasn't fully investigated.

The former prison psychologist explains how she is drawn to people in prison. As a child, she would visit her father who bore a resemblance to Charles Manson. She continues to explain that she is attracted to notorious men in prison and it's in her DNA. After her father died, her mother was on her way to live with the Manson family on their ranch in California.

Rumors amongst the prison are that more goes on between Watts and his prison mate, after Watts had been disciplined after his boxers were found in Tallman's cell. The two men explain themselves as brothers.

Richello went on to say, "And I don't believe that force of circumstance because they were locked up led them to have any sexual contact. Those accusations are just crazy, and I just have to laugh at it. I know both Chris and Dylan and I know their relationship. They are friends. They are very close but that's all it is."

"Chris was trying to help out a friend. They spent nine months side by side, talking through the outlet for 23 hours a day and they became very friendly."

The two were working on a prayer book prior to the move. "It's difficult for Dylan. He's having a hard time without having Chris next to him in the cell. They call each other brothers in spirit."

Watts is currently serving three life sentence without the possibility of parole for the murder of his wife and two small daughters. He accepted the plea deal so he would not recieve the death penalty.

In a Discovery + UK special "Chris Watts: A faking it" explores how he attempted to conceal his murderous deeds before confessing to the crimes.

Forensic Psychologist Kerry Daynes believes Watts is not a psychopath. She states that people like to tell themselves that because it makes them feel more comfortable.

She said: "What I think is fascinating about this case and why it's so compelling to people is that this just looks like the family next door. And we want to believe that Chris Watts is an absolute, out and out, psychopath, because it makes us feel more comfortable. But he's not. There is nothing in his history whatsoever that points to him being a psychopath. And you don't become a psychopath on one or two days out of the year. He is an emotionally inadequate man, and emotionally inadequate men are part of the society that we live in. They are in our communities, and that is the thing that is truly unnerving about this case. He could be one of our neighbors."

She continued:

"If we want to understand Chris Watts, this seemingly perfect husband, then we need to understand how he deals with stress. He bottles it. So, he is somebody who doesn't cope well with his own intense emotions and he really doesn't cope well with anybody else's intense emotions. He tends to just nod his head, appease people, goes along with things, doesn't say how he's truly feeling. But the problem with that is it's a really good way to store feelings of bitterness and resentment. That is what he was doing, he was storing up a real head of steam."
