Exondia Salado was born in 1971 in Florida. She was raised in Chicago. Her family was impoverished, yet Exondia was a smart student who excelled in high school.

Exondia left home after graduating from high school. By the age of 20, she had moved to California and married her first spouse. They had two children together, a son and a daughter. The marriage failed as they divorced soon after their son was born.

Exondia was a single mother of two at the age of 23. Exondia joined the Navy as an avionics technician to help support her struggling family. Exondia excelled in her work while also being present for her children.

Manuel "Manny" Salado was born in the Dominican Republic and served in the United States Navy. Exondia met him at a bar one night and they instantly fell in love.

When Manny's job sent him to Chicago, Exondia and her kids went with him. Exondia and Manny welcomed their first child, a daughter, in 2002.

Exondia and Manny married on October 15, 2002. Exondia became a stay-at-home mother, while Manny continued on active service in the Navy. Meanwhile, Exondia established her own company, creating websites for others. She took charge of the household, overseeing the most of the parenting and finances, regulating how much the family could spend per month.

Their Marriage Gets Bitter

After a few years, conflict grew between Exondia and Manny. Manny was relocated to Oklahoma City by the Navy in 2006, and Exondia saw it as an opportunity to work on their marriage.

So she sent her two older children to Florida to live with their grandparents, while she, Manny, and their 5-year-old daughter relocated to Oklahoma. Exondia had a close friend in Oklahoma City named April Stubbs.

Manny left the Navy after his enlistment expired and worked as a temporary. Because the temporary job wasn't consistent, the couple ran into financial difficulties.

Manny joined the Army Reserves to make some money, but Exondia was not pleased because it was a low-paying job. Exondia was also bothered by issues other than money; she also believed her husband was having an affair.

Manny traveled to the Dominican Republic for his brother's wedding in the spring of 2007, and Exondia became worried because he went alone. Exondia used her Navy computer knowledge to plant spyware on Manny's PC. Manny was in a long-distance relationship with another lady, she discovered. Exondia also discovered emails between Manny and a divorce attorney. Exondia was so angry.

April assisted Exondia in packing her things on Friday, October 11, 2007. Exondia then told April she was going to Home Depot to pick up some tools, but she never returned. Sunday and Monday passed without any sign or word from Exondia.

Something is Wrong- Exondia Returns

Exondia returned three days after she first vanished. When she returned, she was dressed in Army fatigues, a t-shirt, and muddy boots. She had a foul odor. Exondia refused to offer April an honest response regarding where she'd been. Exondia appeared distracted and informed April that she needed to clean her car.

April persisted in pressing Exondia for answers. Ultimately, Exondia allegedly confessed to April that she had murdered Manny. She claimed she shot him twice in the chest and burned his body in the countryside. April dismissed it as a joke, unable to believe Exondia was telling the truth.

April went to the police on October 16, 2007 because Exondia was acting oddly. Exondia claimed she killed Manny and stored his body in the closet for two days before discarding it.

The cops arrived at Exondia and Manny's apartment that night and discovered Exondia home alone. Exondia allegedly informed police that Manny was missing, that she hadn't seen him in a few days, and that she didn't know when he would return. Manny, she claimed, had fled with another woman.

When the cops questioned Exondia about what April had told them, she denied it.

They returned with a search warrant to the flat. The apartment was filthy, with rubbish everywhere. Despite the chaos, no evidence of a murder could be found. Manny's cell phone, on the other hand, was discovered by police.

Manny's Location Remains a Mystery

Manny's personal effects, including his driver's license and military ID card, were discovered at the flat by police. They also discovered a package of.38-caliber bullets, six of which were missing. They took all of this as well as Exondia's laptops and electronic devices.

Exondia's minivan was searched, and it was said to smell like cleaning chemicals. They discovered a huge blood smear in the back of the van. Unfortunately, there was no body and no proof that Exondia had murdered her husband. The van was detained by police for additional examination, and DNA was extracted from the blood stain.

On October 18, 2007, one week after Exondia reportedly told April she'd killed Manny, there was no activity on Manny's credit cards and he hadn't reported for military duty. Meanwhile, Exondia and her 5-year-old girl fled to Florida.

Authorities determined that Manny had spoken to a man called Rico del Rosario, a former coworker, via his cell phone call record before disappearing.

Rico informed investigators that Manny called him on October 8. Manny had asked Rico to meet him, and when Rico came, Manny informed him he needed a place to stay since he suspected his wife of attempting to murder him.

Manny then received a call from Exondia, spoke with her briefly, and then left. Meanwhile, DNA results from the van's blood were returned. It was Manny's.

What Really Happened to Manny

Exondia's computers were still being looked into by the police. Exondia has been Searching phrases like "spousal murder" and "how to kill your husband" on Google, months before Exondia disappeared.

Exondia's searches were more intense on October 8, the day Manny told Rico he was terrified for his life. She had been searching for terms like "cannibalism," "cooking people," and "cannibalism recipes."

On August 28, 2007, she also searched for "easy murder," "murder ways," "rapid kill," "strangulation," "death methods," "human torture methods," and "human castration" on her computer, according to NewsOK. She saved an article with the title "Butchering the Human Carcass for Human Consumption."

She also searched pig roasting, barbecuing a full-size pig in an open pit.”

Exondia had even downloaded instructions for building the pit, and acquired the necessary materials from Home Depot.

Exondia's Google Maps searches revealed that she was looking for isolated areas as well. Officers focused their attention on a 6-square-mile area in rural Oklahoma County. Investigators combed the area but were unable to locate a corpse.

Trial and Sentencing

The trial of Exondia commenced on March 22, 2011. Exondia was 39 years old at the time. Manny had been missing for over two and a half years, and no corpse had been found.

The prosecution said Exondia murdered Manny and then burned his body in the countryside.

Prosecutors also called Exondia's ex-lover, Edwin Rivera, as a witness, saying Exondia informed him she "cooked" her husband's body after shooting him.

The jury rendered its decision on March 19, 2011, following two and a half hours of deliberation, she was convicted of first-degree murder. Exondia didn't seem surprised at all. She received a life without parole sentence.

Manny's body hasn't been discovered yet.
