Child Molester Sentenced to Probation on Second Offense Arrested on Same Charges on Two Additional Victims

The first child molestation charges against Gonzales were dropped

More than a decade ago, Hector Gonzalez walked on charges of child molestation after the El Paso County 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office declined to press charges. He was charged with molesting a child in 2009 but the court dismissed those charges two years later in 2011.

Gonzales Sentenced to Probation on Another Child Molestation Charge

In 2019, Gonzales was again in court charged with sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl whom he helped babysit. The abuse occurred regularly for at least one year. The judge in that case sentenced him to probation after he accepted a plea deal.

The 4-year-old lived with her grandmother who often depended on Gonzales and his wife to help her with the grandkids. She said they were always willing to help out. As neighbors, they were close friends and eventually, the grandmother allowed the 4-year-old to spend nights and weekends with Gonzales, usually when his wife was away on business. (Really? Why? Red f*cking flag, dude.)

4-Year-Old Tells Family Member Gonzales Hurt Her

The 4-year-old told a family member what had been going on. That family member drove her to Memorial Hospital for a sexual assault kit test. Investigators in the case say the abuse started in September 2017 and continued for more than one year -until July 2018.

The victim’s grandmother admits that she missed many red flags. Gonzales purchased gifts for her granddaughter, sleeping over when his wife was away, and buying her clothes, for example.

An Insulting Sentence

Gonzales had been charged with five felony sexual assault charges.

The grandmother placed a sign in her front yard asking someone to buy the house because Gonzales molested her granddaughter. When Gonzales learned the woman placed the signs in her yard, he called the Colorado Springs Police Department requesting their removal.

The police demanded the grandmother remove the signs. They visited the home several times to make this demand after she continued placing the signs up.

Since the DA did not want to go to trial in the child molestation case, they offered Gonzales the plea deal of a lifetime, giving him probation in the case after he pleaded guilty to one felony sexual assault charge and a misdemeanor unlaw sexual contact charge. The other charges against him were dropped.

Gonzales was given a term of four years of probation.

The grandmother of the 4-year-old girl said she was appalled at the sentence given to Gonzales.

More Teens Come Forward; Gonzales Charged With Child Molestation Yet Again

In June 2021, Gonzales -who sold his Colorado home and moved to New York- was arrested on 23 additional sexual assault-related charges after two more victims came forward. Those victims spoke with reporters from KOAA Channel 5 News who relayed the information to police, resulting in the new charges filed against Gonzales.

The victims -both of whom are still minors- allege that Gonzales molested them on numerous occasions from a young age. Some of the new accusations against him date back to assaults from 2004.

"He ruined my childhood," one of the victims told KOAA. "I don't think a person like that could ever be sorry for what they did. I feel Hector Gonzalez should be put in prison where he deserves to be."

(I do not blame the grandmother for what happened to her granddaughter but I do have an issue with the woman. A couple of them, like why did she allow her granddaughter to spend the night in a home with a man only when his wife was out of town? But, my other issue with the grandmother is her willingness to tell everyone, put signs in the yard, talk to news stations, etc. about the matter. She should not divulge such a personal issue about this child, in my opinion.)

These stories need to have follow up. Victims need closure. There are many discrepancies in this article. 8 would suggest research rather than posting half truths.

I'm just seeing this page. I want to reply to the individual who doesn't understand the grandmother. I am the grandmother. I did NOT have a say so as to where my granddaughter went, who babysat..I did not have custody at that time. I divulged the information because I knew there were other victims and calling news, putting signs up helped. As of yesterday October 28, 2022 this so called man has been sentenced to prison. Those families that came forward "after" I divulged the information now have justice as well. Your opinion of what I divulged is concerning. Unless you're family has gone through these things you shouldn't respond. I'm going to divulge some closure..I adopted my grand daughter on December 8, 2020. She is a beautiful little girl who refuses to let this horrible thing define her. As I said Hector Gonzalez pled guilty after being revoked on 4 year deferred sentence. He is currently in El Paso County Jail holding for DOC.
