"Betrayal and Bloodshed: The Diane Downs Case"

It was May 19, 1983, Oregon, USA. A hospital named Williamette was there for a long period, It was a normal day in the hospital as usual, The time is exactly 10 at night, The nurse finished her job and came out of the hospital to get a taxi, When the nurse was waiting, she noticed that a car was coming fastly towards the hospital, Before she realised what was happening, It crossed her with a loud horn and entered the emergency unit, Now seeing this, the nurse also went towards the emergency area, Now a lady opened the door and got down, Blood was dripping from her left hand and was crying for help, And the nurse asked her who she is, and what happened to her, For that she said her name is Diane Downs and when she was coming in the car with her three children, In an isolated place with no human traffic, A stranger came infront of our car, And with the key in my hand I got down from the car, And the stranger asked me my car, And the second I said no, He shooted all my children at the back seat, Then I throwed my key away, So that stranger shot my left hand and went to take the key, So using that time I escaped with the car, Now 9 years old Christie, 7 years old Cheryl and 3 year old danny was rescued, And was taken into the hospital by the staffs, And Diane asked the nurse to call 911 and media, And the nurse immediately called the police and the police came there in a while, Now the doctors who checked the children said that cheryl died before she came to the hospital, And 3 year old Danny was paralysed below hip, And 9 year old christie was affected and lost the ability to speak, Now the police who came to the hospital started investigating Diane, Diane also said the same thing to the police as she said to the nurse, And the police asked how the stranger looked like, For that Diane said he had a lot of hair like Psycho, And said that he suddenly came out of no where and blocked the car, At the same time when police was talking to Diane, Diane was informed about her kids, Diane was heartbroken about Cheryl's death, Police started their investigation, And Diane was also given treatment since she was injured in her left hand, But the things happened after that made the entire Americans shocked, So what happened in this case?

Diane Downs known as Elizabeth Diane Downs, Was born to Wesley Linden and frederickson in August 7, 1955 in Phoenix, Arizona, Diane was very disrespectful and disobidient in her childhood, Because she was raised in such a way, Diane's family is very strict, Particulary her father was always strict and continuously scolded and beat her, One day when she was 13 without being able to handle the torture he cutted her hand, After that she started studying in Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, There she met Steve, and in a few days she fell in love with him, But Diane's father didn't like it, And Diane didn't hear out what he said, Because of that Diane came out of her home, After that she joined the Pacific Bible college in California, But there also she behaved rudely to everyone, She misbehaved with lots of people against their will, Because of this she was dismissed from the college, On november 13, 1973 Diane and Steve got married, And three children were born to them and everything was going well for a long time, But later they both started fighting, They fought daily and at a stage Steve thought that he could not live with her, In 1980 he divorced Diane, The days passed, And now the things I said in intro began to happen. Now Diane's father came to the hospital and heared what was happening, And hearing what the nurse said he was heart broken, And he sat in the chair nearby and started crying, Now he asked what happened to his daughter Diane, And the nurse said she was shot in her left hand but nothing to worry she is not in danger, Hearing this he stopped crying and wiped his eyes, And stood up angrily, And was staring at the room where Diane is admitted, Now at the same time this news was all over America, Who is this killer? how could he do something like this to children? And the people started asking question about his arrest, One week passed, But the killer was not found yet, With Diane's words that is the killer had long hairs, They searched all over the area, but they found no one, Now this case became a head ache to the police, Now they didn't know what to do and at this time they had a break through, When police was thinking what to do next, they received a phone call, And the caller was none other than the nurse, Police attended the call and in that what the nurse said is, She said that she was suspecting someone, Hearing this the police immediately went to the hospital, And there they asked her who she was suspecting, And the nurse slowly looked at Diane who was standing a little away from her, Police was shocked by hearing this, So they asked why she was suspecting her, For that the nurse said, at the day of incident doctor said Diane that her daughter lost the ability to speak, And hearing this Diane was silent for 2 minutes, And asked the doctor, is it necessaey for her to stay here tomorrow, And said that she has work and she wants to leave, Hearing this the doctors were shocked, Because all her three children were at the hospital, In this situation will a mother ask like this? Not only that, after 2 days, Diane went to see Christie in her room, Now she sat near her bed and holded her hands, But christie's heart beat became high than normal, Not only that now when Diane went near Christie's ear and said I love you sweet heart, Christie's heart began to beat faster, That's when the doctors started suspecting Diane, Hearing this the police also started suspecting Diane, But the police without investigating Diane, they started investigating her ex husband, And what Steve said is, I first saw Diane at high school, That's when we both loved each other, But her father didn't like it, Infact he tortured her since her childhood, So at one stage she ran away from her home, After that in 1973 we got married and everything was going well, But as days passed her behaviour started to change, She started fighting for everything, And her behaviour started to irritate me, And diane had some bad habits, And said that it was the reason they fought, Diane's bad habits started growing, And later he came to know that she is having affair with someone at work, And it became a reason for them to fight more, And that's when in 1980 he divorced her, Infact to say the truth Danny was not his child, And he said that the child belongs to her affair, And everytime they fight, Diane threatened him with her 22 caliber semi automatic pistol, Not only that Diane was an attention seeker, She always thinks that everyone should talk about her and think about her, Now the police asked that who is having that gun now, Now immediately police searched her house for the gun but it was not there, Instead in her bedroom under her pillow an empty bullet was found, Since the police checked her house she started giving interview to all the news channels, What she said is, Without finding the killer the police is supecting me, Why should I kill my children, The police is trying to change the direction of the case, like this she bad mouthed the police, Now Frederick gave interview to another channel, In that what he said is, I have doubt on my daughter Diane, Because the killer shot everyone in the chest, But my daughter alone escaped with a small wound in her hand, Not only that how the killer let my daughter escape, Did he not know that Diane will be an important evidence against him, Not only that my grand daughter said to the neighbours, That they are afraid to see their mother, So I highly suspect Diane, he said, Now at the other side, Police were checking whether the bullet from Diane's room and the bullet from the crime scene are same, And in that it was known that both the bullets were the same, Now what the police did is, They took Diane to the crime scene, And asked how did the killer attacked them, And how did he shoot her children, And how did he shot her, they asked her to do a demo, But she started to blabber in fear, Now what she said is, I didn't get down from the car, I opened only my car window, That's when the killer asked me the car, And as I said no he shot my chidren, And then he shot at my left hand, But somehow I managed to escape from that, Now hearing all this, police started looking Diane angrily, Because when the police investiagted her at the hospital, She said that she got down from the car and then the killer pushed her and shot her children, Not only that she said she threw away the car key, Then he shot her and went to take the car key, That's when she escaped, she said. Now which is true and which is lie, Now one of the police officer who was investigating Diane, Asked which one of the story she said was true, Now suddenly police noticed that Diane's face was changing, Now Diane said that she was very confused that day and she didn't remember anything, And said that what she said now is true, And the next second she said that police arrested her, February 28, 1984, That is 9 months after the incident, Police arrested Diane and produced her in the court, What the prosecuters said in the court is, On the day of incident Diane said that she was inside the car, And that's when she said that he shot her, And when the killer shot her, Even a drop of blood didn't splatter in the driver seat, Because there is no blood splatters in the crime scene, And there is no blood splatters in the door, But the children's blood was splattered all over the door and seats, Diane loved her affair knickerbocker very much, She asked him to leave his wife and come with her, But knickerbocker said no to that, So what Diane said one time is, She asked him whether he is hesitating because she is having children, So what prosecution said about this is, She killed her children to go with her affair, Not only that they confirmed that the bullet from the crime scene and Diane's bedroom are same, But till now the gun wasn't found yet, Diane who heard all this, And said that the police couldn't find the killer so they are making her the suspect, So what the judge asked is, If the police are telling lies means why should her father lie, And he is also suspecting you only, the judge said, And for that, the answer which Diane said shocked everyone, For that Diane said he was abusing her sexually from the childhood, Not only that he didn't like that Diane married steve, I think that my father set goons and killed my children, And to hide that he is accusing me, Hearing this everyone was shocked, That's when Christie came in, And Diane looked her like a stranger, Diane may thought that she won't speak as she can't talk, But there comes a twist, Now the prosecution side asked C hritie who shot her, But Christie was silent, Because doctor said she can't able to talk because of the incident, Because of that Diane was standing there daringly, Now the prosecution side asked the same question to Christie, Now christie started crying, And slowly turned around and looked at her mother Diane, And said My mom,Hearing this Diane was shocked, She was shocked that Christie was talking, Yes christie was not permanently mute it was just temprory, Doctors gave her practise and made her talk, This is what Christie said, That day when they returned from the trip, Diane stopped the car where there is no human traffic, And increased the FM volume, And when they asked why she increased the volume she smiled suspiciously, And then she walked to the dickey and took something from there, Then she said to open the window, And my brother also opened the window, And as soon as he opened the window Diane shot her, I didn't know anthing at that time so I pleaded her, I said he is suffering from pain, But she didn't listen, next she shot my sister, After that she laughed and shot her hand, After that I don't know what happened, she said, Diane was given a life sentence and sentenced to 50 years of jail, Now Christie and Danny started living with the judge family, In 1986, they adopted them, Diane who went to prison, escaped from there in 1987, But was caught in a few days, And was given a extra 5 years for escaping from jail, They can apply for parole only after 25 years, And in 2007 she applied for parole, Again in 2010 it was rejected, Recently in 2020 she again applied for parole and was rejected by the court, And a book named small sacrifice was published, And a movie was released in 1989, Saying that her childhood affected her mentaly, They can't justify her act, Mother's love is an example for the purest form of love, But thinking that the mothers like her also staying in this same world.
