The hot caged economy, the unmerciful climatic changes, the unanticipated rampart, and the incursion into Ukraine, has made the world go back to square one. Nearly 828 million people starve due to the lack of rations. The prices are rising up, dramatically, leaving the poor to yearn for food.

The Covid-19 crisis which had caused a severe setback to the economy, is still a minor reason for the people to go hungry. There have been various reasons that had contributed to this situation; which mainly includes the unpredictable climatic changes that had drastically reduced the production of food grains. On top of this, the Russian invasion has added fuel on top of a fire. Ukraine and Russia account for a major percentage of wheat and sunflower oil export. Ukraine exports 40% of the world’s Krypton and Xenon and a major part of nitrogen fertilizers. Furthermore, many countries depend on Russia for its fuel.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) proves three causes for the insufficiency of global food supply. This includes the banning of wheat exports by India due to extreme heat waves, Russo-Ukrainian war and the temporary withdrawal of 23 countries from international export. In order to ameliorate the world’s current situation, the World Bank has announced to make $30 billion for enhancing food security and thus lends a hand to help the poverty-stricken.

The condition holds the same for all the countries, regardless of the country being a developing or a developed one. Finland ranks first in the Global Security Food Index (GFSI). This is mainly due to the country’s meticulous planning regardless of the major obstacle of six-month-long winter, sudden weather changes, etc. However, since the fuel costs have shot up due to the war, this food-prioritizing country is not able to generate heat energy for the growth of the crop. As a result, the prices of the essentials rose by 11%Similarly, Tunisia, being ranked in the 62nd position of the Global Security Food Index (GFSI) majorly depends on Ukraine’s wheat and sunflower oil exports. Subsequently, the people’s hunger slowly changed into anger and they started blaming the government for its current condition.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that nearly 600 million people get sick eating contaminated food and 420, 000 lose their lives. Due to the Food Supply Chain Crisis, most countries are furious at the agitators. On that account, many western countries issued sanctions on Russia, considering it to be the major cause of the world’s economic crisis. Recently, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has commented that "the worst is yet to come and, for many people 2023 will feel like a recession" and predicts the global growth to fall down by 2.7%.

Interestingly, even the fast food restaurants like Burger King and McDonalds have also increased their menu prices. The current situation is not just a worldwide problem, however, it affects every single fellowman. There are even opinions about industrialists misusing the present situation by setting up high rates.

A country, whether rich or poor, is still affected due to this fluctuating economy. This can be seen from the condition of the two countries, which ranks the 1st and the 62nd in the Global Security Food Index (GFSI).

What did the people do? Why should they get affected? The people are stuck in between the natural causes and the cunning industrial strategies. Are the people scapegoats?

Depressing, isn't it? What's your view on this whole issue? Whom do you support and why? Who are the ones affected by this whole matter of hate, bloodshed and war? Drop down your views in the comments section down below ..............
