Zygmunt Bauman once said that we live in liquid times where nothing is made to last. He spoke of people being treated like consumer goods, meaning that if they have flaws, they are discarded. Or even replaced by updated versions. People are judged by our expectations, and if they can't meet them, they are returned to their origin at an even greater speed than when they arrived. Since expectations never take into account the less desirable things, they will inevitably be rejected for who they really are. People are chosen in the same way that a new car is chosen, with the expectation that it will have certain features and extras that we require, and when we discover that the car has flaws and imperfections, we park it and go in search of a new one.Perhaps we want one that is more beautiful, more powerful, and more fashionable—even a color that we like more—but the car that disappointed our expectations is one that we will never want again.

These are times when we live in appearance, where the marriage contract is worth more than love between the couple, the funeral is worth more than the deceased, the clothes are worth more than the body, and even the church is worth more than God.

People seek a house, but almost none have a home, a family, and continue to live in a crowd of people who only form a set of egos without the unity that a family should have.

We live in a time where everyone runs without even knowing where they want to go, liquid like a river that does not flow towards the sea but towards wherever it takes them; the destination does not matter; what really matters is that they continue trying to fill something empty in themselves that they don't even know what it is. People are like a bottomless bucket that can never fill up, where everything that is put in there comes out, continuing to be empty.

People live in total uncertainty; nothing is solid anymore, not even themselves. They live thinking that they are running away from others, but essentially they are running away from themselves, from these empty versions of security and certainty about who they are and what they want.

People run away, but say they are "running after"; "if I don't run after, no one will bring it to me." They just don't know what they're running after, whether it's something undefined or something defined by social media, where everything and everyone is perfect, desirable, and loving. In short, where expectations touch a heaven and a paradise that cannot exist here unless it is within us,

We live in a society that overflows with liquid relationships and petrified hearts. The only thing that is permanent is the illusion, supported by a perfect virtual alter ego that is only a reflection of what we are not, because no one is perfect and never will be.

Perhaps the times we live in are no longer liquid; I look and see more like gaseous times. Where nothing is truly solid, the most that people touch are their skins, and it seems that the more, the better for that virtual alter ego. Neither solid nor liquid, gaseous that evaporates into the illusion of those who run without knowing where or why. They run because they want something or some things that they can only find when they stop and look within themselves.

Let us continue with a solid soul in this liquid and gaseous world. For those who feel deeply, shallow relationships or those that evaporate at the slightest heat do not add any value.
