Victimhood and empowerment are two opposite poles; those who feel like victims have no power, and those who have power cannot feel like victims. These are perhaps two of the few opposite poles where balance does not matter. We cannot be half victims and half empowered; the equation always leans towards the victim because those who cannot attain complete empowerment will always be victims.

I know it's complicated to look at power for people like me, for example, who have been accustomed to receiving so much negativity towards their being. Since childhood, we have been in the position of victims because, at that time, we had no awareness of our power, much less the ability to do anything to prevent what came to us. Over the years, more and more similar situations arose, and the feeling of victimhood inevitably accompanied us. Not because we were weak, but because things truly happened to us and we did not understand why, much less that we had the power within us to not feel that way.

We spent a large part of our lives suffering from what others did to us, and at no point could we see that we have the power to liberate ourselves from this position of victimhood. This power begins to be discovered when we put things into different perspectives and look at the world from different angles. Everything that comes to us can be received in the way we react to it, whether good or bad; this classification only exists after our ego makes a judgment about it. Obviously, if we are in the position of victims, we will often see things as bad and unjust, feeling the impossibility of controlling whatever comes to us. It is almost like accepting disappointment and sadness in our lives for decisions we do not control, such as what others bring to us.

When we feel empowered to analyze what comes to us, we can use everything that comes our way to learn, to decide what does and doesn't serve our well-being, and what we want or don't want for ourselves. This change in attitude will slowly begin to alter our experiences because we create a reality within ourselves that cannot help but be reflected outwardly.

We are powerful beings, much more so than most people think. There are so many superheroes out there with superpowers who don't even realize it. We crawl in pain when we could easily fly in power. The key to everything lies in awareness and belief in this power. As much as they may not believe it, we are God, and there is an infinite power within us that only our minds can limit. This power has been within us all along, but we have been led to believe that it isn't true, that we are victims, that we don't choose our own path, that there is luck and misfortune... Nothing is random here; nothing is separate or disconnected; there are patterns in everything that we ignore seeing. Fantasy is so much closer to what we call reality than we might think because physical and non-physical are always interconnected, and everything is possible—an infinite number of possibilities. And yes, we can choose any of those possibilities for ourselves. To stay in this victim position and believe that destiny happens because of what comes to us and the disempowered way we react to it is to stop seeing the divine being that we are and to reject the best that God has given us, that divine essence of a superhero.

The next time you feel injustice or any emotion that makes you feel diminished and victimized, stop for a moment and tell yourself that you have the power to react in any way you want and to put yourself in the position you choose to better serve that reaction. Ask yourself, "How can I analyze this situation so that what I feel is not negative for the divine being that I am? Another option is to embody that superhero character and ask yourself what a superhero would do in this situation. Whatever the answer, know that the superhero that you are can do anything; you just have to believe it and expel that victim within you.
