When we awaken on this crazy journey that is life, we are faced with countless challenges. Unlike many, my spiritual awakening was not sudden, as I have been questioning the same things and trying to access that greater consciousness that exists in this universe for as long as I can remember.

I have always been certain that we are more than mere human pawns here, that we are creators of our reality, and that nothing happens by mere chance. From an early age, I believed that there are no coincidences and that everything that happens to us has more than one layer of interpretation. In fact, I see things in layers, like an onion. I even see ourselves that way. We come with various layers of illusion here that, over time and through living, we peel away, one by one.

It hurts a lot to peel those layers away from us, as they are so tightly held that they need our blood, sweat, and tears to release them. The deeper we go into these layers, the harder it becomes to remove them.

Up to a certain point in our lives, we see challenges as problems, but the more we progress, the more we understand that they are only challenges so that we can grow and shed those layers that imprison us in the emotion of fear.

In my humble opinion, that is what it is all about in essence: shedding the fear from ourselves towards the pure and divine love that we are and carry within us at all times.

I have shed many layers, and I have suffered a lot with this illusion that was within me. And every time I think it's easier after a layer comes off, another, even tougher layer appears. How many times have I thought of giving up, on my knees, begging for divine compassion for my pain and despair? Despite that, I feel that it has always been there in every moment, because in the end, it always holds me up with something that can cheer me up and motivate me to move forward. That is why I have learned to be thankful. More than asking, I am grateful for this opportunity, even if it is hidden in pain, to be able to grow and evolve towards the truth of my being, a truth that brings me closer every day to that divine love that I feel within me.

I will live through some of the saddest days of my existence here. The layer I find myself in is the most challenging one I ever thought could exist. This layer has taken me to the darkest depths of my soul, revealing so much that my mind cannot comprehend. My ego screams and writhes in pain, while my soul asks that I learn to free myself from this layer and feel the freedom and peace of my true essence once again.

I know that many may see and feel this moment with negativity or even pessimism on my part, but it has not been so. At the same time that I kneel and sometimes even crawl, a greater force is born within me that has kept me going—a small light in me that bears the name of hope and faith.

Faith that nothing is in vain, faith that everything comes out for the best, faith that I will be stronger and at the same time lighter. This hope is born within me: that the illusion will pass and I will live my truth closer to the creator, closer to that universal love that I am and that everything is.
