Book Stats: The Rosie Project written by Graeme Simsion. Published on 30th January 2013.

It was lunch break and I was sitting by the window in our campus cafe with a bowl of mix fruits, a wrapped sandwich and a glass of banana-fufana.

When my eye caught an interesting title, a girl from nursing department was holding a book with the title that piqued my attention.

Taking my lunch I sat across from her  waiting to be noticed. She was almost at the end of the book. So I waited patiently while waiting.

Finally when she put down the book, I immediately shared my interest in the book and asked to borrow it. She was charming girl named Nevada.

And I sat there reading, let me share my opinion on this book.

I would say that it is delightful comedy that follows the story of an Australian genetics professor named Don Tillman. The protagonist excels in academic intellect but is socially awkward.

The protagonist embarks on a quest to find a suitable wife through a plan he put together meticulously. But it was unknown to him that systemic approach does not work in the matters of heart.

His quest to finding love leads him to a free-spirited bartender named Rosie  whose lifestyle in one word could be described as chaotic, a complete opposite to the his own.

The unfolding story is full of humor and wit with Don navigating through the complexities of social interactions and relationships in his own unique way.

Though his desire to connect with Rosie was genuine and his effort to understand her quirks and flaws were endearing but the approach full of blunt honesty and lack filter resulted in many amusing and cringe-worthy moments.

As the story unfolds it shows how Don learns to embrace his imperfections and open himself up to the unexpected Joy's and challenges that come with falling in love.

If I tall about themes in this novel I would say it is self-discovery, love, identity, vulnerability and acceptance.

Elaborating on the writing style in this novel I woul say that it is a blend of humor, wit and insightful observations.

The narrative is infused with subtle observations about human behaviour and relationships offering insights into the complexities of love and connection.

I must say that the author's use of a straightforward and direct tone which is precise and methodical it was perfect for a logical and systemic protagonist character.

The sharp dialogue and clever banter in the novel added life to the novel that makes it an engaging and entertaining read which is filled with heart.

The author brilliantly balances humor with depth which resulted in the story to resonate with readers on an emotional level while also providing moments of light-hearted entertainment.

A quote that stood out to me in this novel is,

“It's a funny thing with modern life. There used to be a time when the only self-conscious creatures on this earth were the humans. But now we've got machines and technology making choices, and they're self-conscious too. And it's the humans who programmed them. So left to evolve on their own, it's probably only a matter of time before fridges have existential crises.”

It was both funny and insightful capturing the humorous and thought-provoking tone of the story.

Blending Don's scientific perspective with a touch of wit, reflecting his dry sense of humor and unique way if viewing the world.

Overall it is an uplifting comedy novel that leaves smile on the readers face. If you are a fan of romantic comedies  and unconventional live stories you will no doubt fall in love with this story
