After The Auroras & Blossoms Haiku: Volume 1 and The Auroras & Blossoms Haiku: Volume 2, I am delighted and honored to announce the release of another book that I co-edited with my friend and business partner David Ellis: A Warm Mug of Cozy Anthology: Volume 1.

Last year, David and I launched a website to promote the cozy mystery genre, which we love. Things went so well for A Warm Mug of Cozy, that we started exploring the possibility of creating an anthology that would feature never-published, emerging, and established writers alike. So, we launched a submission call to see what would happen.

A few months later, we had a large number of excellent stories to pick from. The choice was difficult, of course, but several stories contained elements that seemed to be missing in many of the mainstream cozy mysteries we were used to reading.

Those are the stories that now appear in A Warm Mug of Cozy Anthology: Volume 1. Those tantalizing tales are the embodiment of the genre itself. Not only are they a lot of fun to read but also very unique in their storytelling too. There is plenty of warmth, humour and unusual settings in these wonderfully imaginative stories to keep you on your toes. You will be still guessing the twists right up until the end.

Contributors to A Warm Mug of Cozy Anthology: Volume 1 are: Saffron Amatti, Jake Collins, J. Ivanel Johnson, Denise Johnson, Natalie Klein, Caitlin McColl, Sam Morris, Julie A. Sellers, and Ian Tucker.

Stories:

  • "Recipe for Deception" - Denise Johnson
  • "Murder on Main Street | A Derry Downs Mystery" - Natalie Klein
  • "The Mystery of the Frisky Deer" - Julie A. Sellers
  • "Ladies Who Lunch and Die" - Ian Tucker
  • "Trinity Falls" - Caitlin McColl
  • "Winter’s Warmblood" - J. Ivanel Johnson
  • "Overdue Drew" - Samuel Morris
  • "Nary a Canary" - Saffron Amatti
  • "The Mystery of the Cave" - Jake Collins

Want to learn more about the anthology? We are currently running a mini-series on our blog. In each post, a contributor explains what inspired their story. I encourage you to check it out!

Ready for a fun ride? Click below to grab your copy of the anthology:

If you don't see your favorite online store in the list, wait for a few days, and it should appear there. Please note that the anthology will not be available through Amazon. (David and I dislike the way the company treats indie authors.)

If you have a small budget, consider visiting the website of your local library to borrow a copy. In Canada and the US, a majority of libraries use the catalogues from Overdrive, Hoopla, and BiblioCommons, which distribute most of the books David and I edit and release as authors. (Thank you, Draft2Digital!)

NB: When you purchase a copy of A Warm Mug of Cozy Anthology: Volume 1, you do not just support A Warm Mug of Cozy. You also make it possible for the authors who have opted to receive royalties to be duly compensated for their hard work. The same goes for copies borrowed at your local library.

I hope you will enjoy this book. If you do, make sure you leave us a review on Goodreads!

That's it for today. Thank you for reading!
